Hahn's Macaw pics sharing

Abigal7, is he talking much? Hahnna talks up a storm, phrases and all but not always super clear. I understand her, but my husband thinks I am hearing things. Lol

Captain Jack says step up, Yeah, What and come here. It is cartoonish sounding. He also mumbles and speaks gibberish (which I do not understand). I notice he will only say something if he wants to.

I don't have a hahns but mannnnn you're a good photographer and mannnn that's a purty bird you got there

Yeah, Hahnna too. If I really want to get her going I have to play Bruce Springsteen. LOL. then she will not shut up. So far clearly she will say, step up, what's up poppy head, shut up (she tells the dogs that when they bar). Im a pretty girl, what, good girl, hi, hello and then a lot of phrases that I can sometimes understand, like I want a bath, then other times like you said a lot if gibberish. When I was hand feeding her Everytime the water came on she would scream baba, my baba and my husband would say, what do you want and one day she screamed clear as anything, i want my baba. We video taped her and all my friends on FB laughed and said give her her damn baba will you. LOL. They are characters! I think she is going to have a good vocabulary though. She is always with one of us and my two sons are always teaching her stuff, hot always good but funny. She seems to learn what you do not want her to say. My husband will annoy me sometimes and a coyple of times I said "daddy's an A hole." Jokingly. Two days ago we were in the kitchen and she was chatting away and then clear as a bell (and hubby heard it). She said daddy's an a hole. I looked at hubby and said OOPS but we both cracked up laughing. She sometimes says one thing super clear then never again, like happy birthday. We were trying to teach her to sing it for my son, worked on it fir weeks but she just could nit do it, then all of a sudden she finally did but then never again after.

danilo, so glad to see MouMou is doing well. I remembered you were worrying that MouMou wasn't eating when you first brought her home. How did you finally get her to eat? I always wanted a Hahn Macaw. I was looking for one when I first wanted a parrot. But I found my Lily instead. In a way, I am glad my Lily is not as loud as a macaw. I wouldn't trade my Lily for the world.

Iquan, my MouMou now eat well, and the poops turned normal. Maybe at the very beginning, he was too nervous to eat, and now he is relax, and every morning climbed to the top of the cage, where is his playgroud. And he can now eat seeds from my hand, but still refuse to step on my hand....
he was not loud at all in the first some days, but in the last few days, when he saw me in the morning, or when i talked to him in the morning, he screamed loudly, i don't know why, maybe he is exciting or maybe he don't like to talk with me...
congratulation, you got your Lily, and she will be happy with you in her whole life.

Yes, new bird is always shy and tend to be quiet for the first couple of weeks. When they are comfortable with everybody around more familiar with the new enviroment, that's when they show their true color.
My Lily was very quiet the first few weeks, but not anymore. She is vocal when she wants to come out of the cage. Normally, when she is playing by herself or hear the water running, she is very chatty with funny sounds. Her playing and happy sounds are so cute.

You MouMou facial characteristic is so cute! It makes people (me) fall in love with her right away.

No I have a fantastic breeder who sends me pictures every second day along with its weight, etc. She is in it for the right reasons which is a rarity these days! She lives a few provinces away so we will have to ship (by air) the little one when its fully weaned....my husband and I are going on a cruise at the end of January beginning of February so she is keeping it an extra week which she was fantastic about ( I didn't want to get him/her just before we left for 2 weeks or the little one would end up bonding with my 21 year old daughter and trust me I would never get the baby back lol).

Even if I could have gotten the baby sooner I don't think I would have as there are not a lot of bird ppl around here so I wouldn't have had anyone to assist me if I had problems....I just don't have the knowledge or experience for that yet! Maybe someday I will

I'm double dying of all the cuteness in this thread. I want a Hahn's sooooooo bad. I should know better as they're loud. Therefore, I can have my mini cockatoo (my white cockatiel) and my mini macaw.

They can be loud but you would notice that they make less noise then a cockatiel. I remember my cockatiel would never shut up (good thing they are not loud). The Hahn's macaw will also make weird noises, gibberish, and say words so it is not squawking 24/7. I do not think they are as bad as the big conures.

My Cockatiel makes a lot of noise but it's mostly chirping, and this one low pitched sound. After a while, I don't even hear it anymore. LOL! It's like people that live near trains, you get used to the sound.

I'm so dying for a Hahns. Can't find a baby anywhere though, and the one rescue won't adopt one to me because they said he's too nippy.

I must be lucky, i hope I do nor jinx myself but Hahnna is not loud at all. She talks a lot but never screams. I did read that they can be very vocal but the way around that is if you do not want them to scream to teach them to talk so that's what we did. I am surprised to read so much negativity about the Hahn's. I belong to a group on FB. and so many pisting about their nippiness. Again, prior to getting Hahnna I read they could become nippy if they arenot handled a lot. So many on that group have said I am lucky. hahnna ismy first Macaw and she truly is a joy. She is 6 months so still toung, but cetu good about playing by herself, no screaming and I am yet to fet bit. In fact she goes to everyone including strangers. We have her harness trained so when it is nice she is out and about with us. She dan be a devil, but in a fun way, she likes to get into things. LOL. I truly am surprised though about some of the pistings about the Hahn's, i have not run into any of this as of yet. Elaine and Hahnna
