GW Or B&G

I have an extra double macaw cage because Toby has decided he prefers the family room with his regular macaw cage and a play stand.

So…I was thinking of putting down a deposit on a macaw baby that a great breeder is Az has.

I can't decide if I would prefer a Greenwing or a B&G.

What I am looking for is that lovable, playful temperament where they are always goofy having fun and will learn tricks. I love the idea of the birds that lay down on their backs.

Which of the two macaws would have the best chance at having the goofy playful temperament?

I have always heard that green wings are the gentle giants, while B&G are the clowns. Yet this are just general stereotypes and each bird does have their own personality.
If you search the forum, I would be willing to bet that people have asked "green wing or B&G" a 100 times by now. I'm sure you can find more information that you are looking for.

That post helped a lot. Everybody says the same thing. I reserved a B&G baby from my favorite breeder. It hatched two weeks ago. I'm looking forward to it.

That was my same choice that I just made. I ended up with t he B&G. I think I will do a rescue some day and do a gthenwing. But I work with a lot of birds on the weekends over in kentucky. In I see some green wings you can do anything with and some you can't. Same as the blue and gold. A lot of it is how to handle them when you get it as a baby. I think the more socialize It gets the better off you will be with the baby. Training also helps out alot. But the best of luck to you and the baby blue and gold

Greenwings occasionally have dominance issues, but they can be trained out of it fairly easily.

I wouldn't trade my goofy greenwing for the world!
