Some of you might remember last June when I bought (online) the worst cage I've ever seen . Lopsided and all, had to get replacement parts that fit better, etc. Real piece of junk in several ways. As if that's not already a good excuse to get a new cage again already...

Griffin has developed a horrible new habit. He bites (hard) on the powder coated bars, and has actually chipped the paint off in many areas! I just hope he hasn't ingested any at this point. Chelation meds and paying for x-ray is not fun.

So, he got a nice new ALUMINUM cage (King's Cages) for his birthday earlier this month. I finally put it together and set it up today.

I THINK HE LOVES IT!! :) I put all the branches and perches in the same way so he'll feel at home as much as possible. It's about the same dimensions but an inch wider. It's a completely different color now. Aluminum matte silver and light blue, instead of black. It took him only about 10 minutes to go from unsure to comfortable already! Typical Poi :D.

I'm so pleased with this cage already. Night and day from the last one. Aluminum is rust proof, no paint to chip, lightweight, and while a bit more expensive than powder coated, it cost much less than stainless steel.
The only thing I don't like is the shape of the plastic dishes that came with it, and the way they fit into the feeder doors. I intend to buy some bolt on rings to fit my SS dishes instead.

EEEEEEE :D !!! I love the design of the cage, very modern?
Looks like he already made the place home sweet home. His colors match really good with it IMO!

WWWWOOOOW, Julie! That is a BEAUTIFUL cage! :D And Griffin sure looks quite happy (and oh-so-pretty).

I bet it will be much easier to clean this cage, too. Very nice, sleek design. Me likey. :D

Wow, his new cage looks AWESOME Julie!

What a fantastic cage Julie! Looks like Griffin is loving his new home:) I was looking at those aluminum cages too, but they unfortunately didn't make them in a size for Kiwi. I bet that will be so much easier to clean and move around (and will last!).

Huh, I think I like that color of the metal better than most cages I've seen Julie. That looks nicer than the one I got for Taz now that I see a good photo of it. I'll have to keep that in mind for the future. Griffin is a really pretty bird too.

You're a lucky girl ;) And a good birdy mommy!

Very nice!! Griffin is a lucky fid!!

Nice cage. It looks well made.

Beautiful cage Julie, I am glad Griffin loves it. I have always liked the looks of those cages but do question why they would put in plastic dishes with parrots. Glad you are going to look at replacing them with stainless ones.:)

Great cage! I like the colors of it also! Griffin looks thrilled with it! He is so cute!

I love that cage, Julie! Beautiful AND functional! I have a Kings Cages travel cage and I'm a big fan of the design and durability both.

Good buy! And Griffin is obviously pleased.

Julie, Griffin's new cage is perfect for the handsome little chewer! It looks fantastic and the higher price will give you peace of mind. Beautiful cage and occupant!

Thank you all for the nice comments :)!

When I order something sight unseen I'm always hoping it is as good a quality in person. This one is well made for sure. It was my avian vet who suggested and recommended this cage.

I've always liked all my cages the same color (matching set), so when I had to get away from powder coated black, I thought it was going to look like an eyesore next to Raven's cage, but to my surprise it looks good! Reid, I also noticed the color looked good with Griffin :).

April, King's Cages told me that in the future (forgot the time frame, but I think she said by year end?) they will have these aluminum cages in more of a variety of sizes, styles, and color. I couldn't wait that long so fortunately the 'one' size they had now was okay for Griffin.

I always wanted a King's cage but they're so expensive.

I hate using credit cards if I can help it, but great for veterinary emergencies  King's also has an economy line which is about the same price or even less than A&E or Prevue, etc. Still made so much better too.

Well, I'm hoping the cage we just got Kiwi a couple months ago will hold up slightly longer than the end of the year lol:54: Actually, I have been cleaning this cage differently than the last to prevent it from rusting so quickly. Fingers crossed we won't have to replace it again until we can afford a stainless one!

Though I do really like the look of that cage. Very "modern" for your little man who needs a hip home;) Maybe Raven and Twigs will even hang out in his cage sometimes now:p Are you planning on eventually upgrading everyones cages to aluminum?

Lol, everyone just LOVES hanging out in Raven's cage. But last night, Griffin actually "went home" for a little while to check out his new home and play with the toys in there :). That made me happy to see.. It took Raven about a month to adjust to his cage! Completely different personalities. For now I'm just hoping Raven's and Robin's fairly new King's powder coated cages will hold up for a long time. King's claims that "their" cages have a harder, thicker powder coat finish on them than other brands. Hope that's really true.

I think Kiwi's cage has the potential to hold up for many years. If you don't leave water to sit on it, and he doesn't purposely chip the paint like Griffin, you should be set for a while.

Do you guys like King's the best? I am still considering which to purchase for when my galah baby comes home in a few months.
