I can't believe Griffin is finally home :) (after getting him last year)! After some considering, I'm glad I decided on another Poi:D

He's very tame and handleable to the breeder, (will lay in her palm, she can pick him up over his back, etc)... but he doesn't know me yet, so understandably he's acting a bit apprehensive and a bit nippy with me. I'm just letting him settle in right now to get used to the new environment before I impose myself onto him. I'm sure he's wondering "WHAT the heck is going on, WHO is this strange person, and WHERE am I?!!"

**So my husband just walked in, and guess who is already cuddling, accepting kisses and laying in his palm on his back?!! Some of you remember my post about how my hubby who is fairly a newbie with birds? How he really has 'something' about him that animals can sense? I swear he's the bird whisperer!

Anyway, when first put him in his cage, he immediately found a toy and began checking it out :). He's just exploring his cage now. I have many complaints about that cage, but that's for another thread. Griffin just came down to the floor to look at the air purifier, and sat by the breeze coming out of it. He really seemed intrigued by it!

My handsome little boy (hatched March 8, 2014)

I LOVE this new toy!!

Checking out the side door...

Griffin looks like a girl for now :D The beautiful blue goes away on mature males

Wow, he is STUNNING!! I love that blue(even if it is only temporary) :)
I'm glad he likes that toy!! I'll pick one up for my fids next time I'm at the shop.. ;)

He seems like such a love. I bet you're thrilled.

Julie, he is even more beautiful now! And he seems to love his new toys and surroundings:)
And of course he made right up with your Hubby...what is it about these husbands of ours???
Please, MORE PICS!!!!

Seriously, was there ever any question than a poi? Pois rule!

Griffin is stunning and can live here any time.

Here's more Terry :)

I know... WHY do so many birds like men better? In that one thread remember how so many people said their birds prefer the husband! :52: I told him he better not steal my birds from me!

Thank you Julie! I am in love with Griffin!
Did your hubby agree to not steal Griffin's affection?

Thanks! No, he made no promises... :20:

What is it about this toy?!! Thank goodness I got it... Looks like he might even make it his bed!! After exploring a little, he always goes back to that spot!

Awww, you did so good getting that toy:)

He is absolutely the most gorgeous little thing. Such a sweetie. He sure looks like he loves his new toy/bed. Thanks you for putting up heaps of photos. They are all so beautiful. :)

Wow! He is stunning! It looks like he is settling in very well. And where did you get that toy? I must get one for Nova! And I am glad you know his hatch date now! He is a month older than Nova.

You take excellent pictures!

YAY! I bet you are *so* excited to have that little cutie home:D I love the pics of him on his little hammock thing. So cute.

I personally think out husbands are conspiring against us women to get all the birdie attention:mad: Wearing bird pheromones or something........:09:I so hope Griffin chooses you once he's settled in more:)

Thanks Jaime :). I got that from the bird store owned by the vet. I wish I still had the tag for it to tell you what brand it is. I think if you searched online, you could find one like it or similar.

I love it when I get lucky taking pictures! I hate it when I miss a good shot. I'm getting better at it. You have to be quick sometimes! :)

I'm glad I know his hatch date too. At least we know Griffin and Nova aren't siblings since they're a month apart.

I asked Gail about the variable coloration of the babies, and no one knows. It's random and not gender related. She said different bloodlines maybe? Then they all end up looking normal as adults anyway.

Beautiful. :) Shame he won't keep the blue. He will still be beautiful though. Congrats on bringing him home. It's so much fun to bring home a new bird. I can't wait to bring home my Ringneck.

I think I need some kind of Poicephalus in my flock someday. :)

Thanks Emily, I can't wait to see pics of your new Ringneck :) What species of Poi's do you see in England?

I just made a new thread with a picture. :)

Not a big variety. Senegals are the most common here, but Meyers are somewhat easy to find too. I did see a Red Bellied not long ago.

Congrats on Griffin! Hes very handsome, love those blue baby feathers! :) I've never seen a Ruppells before, are the much bigger or different personality wise to a Senegal?

Julie, you must be thrilled silly to have Gorgeous Griffin home with you. He is so beautiful. Congrats! He made that super cute toy his own in no time.

It's just not fair. The major caregiver should automatically be the bird's favorite human, but no, it's often the opposite. My husband is home on weekends, not all of them, and he gets a hero's welcome every time he arrives. :)
