Do any of you have grey cheeks? They used to be plentiful but are very rare now and domestic breeding has not gone well. I have 4, at one time had 8, and two are breeders but so far, eggs have been duds and one fertile egg had a completely formed but dead chick. These are wonderful little parrots!!!!!

No but I think I'm in love! I have never even heard of them before! Definitely gonna start researching. I've been talking about possible getting a pair of linnies or something similar as I would like to expand our breeding flock, but these guys are just too cool! Please tell us more.

Are they related to the canary wing ?

yes they are, I just started looking up info on them, boy are they hard to find. The only brotogeris breeder I could find had like 6 different kinds but none of them are the grey cheeks. Seems a lot of the grey cheeks were wild caught and fairly hard to breed in captivity. :(

I think a friend of mine on another forum is breeding the canary wing in SoCal

You should contact this lady in Los Angeles County, CA. She's doing very well breeding them!!! She mentioned in her site that she had her nest boxes made just for her and they worked better! It would be wonderful if you can start the breeding program for them as well as there's not a lot of them around anymore. Grey-cheek Home

Thankl you Mike from TN. I know Luana - she and I are both members of the brotogeris Society. Some breeders have had more like than me. My wild caught pair(Homer & Marge, now deceased) did produce babies for me. But my captive bred birds have yet to produce live chicks. I am still trying though.

What does Luana do that's different from what your doing? If I can get my hand on two pairs of them I wouldn't mind trying it out. Part of the reason why I was thinking of breeding my Lesser Sulfur crested cockatoo because they're on endangered species list...
