Grey and cockatiel, friends...

I decided since I work 4 ten hour days a week that I'd get a cockatiel to be friends with zazu my grey I'm getting In 4 weeks. The tiel is a baby as well they are being raised together and spending time together. What are your opinions on their friendship.. There cages are right beside each other at my house so they can see each other and talk while in the cage.

Their friendship is fine since they would be kept in separate cages in your home. I don't see a problem with that.

I don't know about that. My CAG doesn't seem to pay any attention to the tiels and vice versa. Although the CAG learned to scream exactly like tiels, so now sometimes I have a "stereo concert" - tiels are screaming from one side of the room and CAG is screaming form another side of the room LOL

There both still babies. They already know each other and like each other

i think as long as they are not housed in the same cage, its great that they are friends and seem to already like eachother just always be careful with out of cage time, the bigger beaks can cause a lot of damage to little birds unexpectedly

They would pay enough attention cause it is another bird. They pay more attention then what people expect, they do enjoy the company of other birds more then what most people realize.

I have a CAG and two budgies. My CAG will sit and look at my budgies she does occasionally make a budgie noise however she doesn't do it loud so it doesn't other me.
When I first got my CAG everyone said oh no she's gna be screeching the budgie tweets but she doesn't and she's quite fascinated by them. I don't let her to close to their cage as I don't want her to frighten them.

I think it is great that you want a friend for zazu! My only worry is that zazu is so much bigger and if he is having a bad day he could really hurt the tiel (I've talked to people where that happened). So just keep that in mind, especially when zazu is reaching maturity.
