Phoenix - Sun conure
Hello all, new papa of a Sun conure. Well not quite yet, as it is not fully weaned yet, but I can go spend as much time as I want with him/her so long as the store is open.

Been wanting to dive a little deeper into bird keeping for years. Doing research and dreaming. Finally decided to pull the trigger and get a bit bigger bird than parakeets that I have had a few times over my 47 years. Found a baby Sun conure at a bird store near me. The owners are great and encouraging me spending time with Phoenix before he comes home. He/she is ten weeks old, starting this week to take some adult food.

Welcome to you and Phoenix, fitting name for a Sun Conure! He's beautiful, enjoy the bonding process while weaning is underway.

Welcome to the forums! Congratulations, your future companion is adorable! I hope this is the beginning of a long and happy journey for you and Phoenix.

Welcome to you both!

I already got Phoenix cage set up. Bought it all new from Amazon. My question is do I need to wash this before Phoenix comes home, and if so with what? Bleach water or would Dawn dish soap suffice?

Very sweet...you must be very excited.
If you have purchased shredding toys then no need to wash. Just discard 'shredded toy'. I'm assuming the toys are newly purchased and not used. Do not use 'used toys' that cannot be cleansed properly. Make sense?:)
Yes very very excited! He/she is already doing flocking calls when I have to go cause the store is closing. Was doing short little flights between my hands about a foot or two apart. Tho clipped still has just enough lift to travel a foot or so before starting to drop.
Yes they are new toys designed to be torn up. Thanks again for the help.
