I have been searching the forum and can't find out if there is something I can use to grease the muffin pans so the birdie muffins don't stick. Could I use olive oil? I apologize if this is a repeat post, I am not so good with the search option, apparently.

You can use paper muffin cups... Or lightly grease with crisco.

I don't know if you're trying to specifically make muffins, but when I make my birdie bread I just dump the whole batch into an 8x9 glass pan greased with crisco and then cut it up into squares when it's done.

The recipe I was using called for muffins, but a glass pan would be sooo much easier:) And I do have crisco, so that works. Thank you so much!

I have never heard of that. Would I get it from a health food store?

I haven't heard of coconut butter either, but I do have a jar of organic coconut oil which can also be used for cooking....look in the health foods section of your grocery store

Any grocery store should sell it - they do around here. And I made a boo-boo. It IS called coconut OIL, not butter, even though it "looks" like butter, lol.

I use it when I bake birdie bread, too. :)

HA! You're right Wendy- it does look like butter! It reminds me of candle wax lol but then it melts in your hand and turns oily...very weird! Haha

I will look for some when I go out! I did use the glass dish to bake in with Crisco for now, and the birdies are loving it:) Thanks to all of y'all for your help!

Any chance you would like to share your birdie muffin or bread recipes??? I bake dog & will be trying to bake kitty treats .....might as well do the birdie treats too!!! Thank You in advance!

i used a carrot muffin mix (sugar free), unsweetened applesauce, 1 teaspoon of natural peanut butter, and carrots, zucchini, broccoli, ground flax seed, a tbsp. of unsweetened OJ,jalapeno peppers, snap peas and some Roudybush. I followed the recipe on the muffin mix except for adding more mix to make it a little thicker.

Uh oh do you mean you can't use Pam ? Someone told me it was ok ( forget who ) to put that on their wood perch so poop doesn't stick. Sorry I know we are talking about food. So I just thought it would be ok to use it for food too. I made sure the perch wasn't to slippery for her don't worry. But now I'm worried about the muffins I made her.
