Parrots
Binky my 11 month old quaker, brought him home July 11,2014. Olly my o.w.a is 8 years old.brought him home,sept.3rd. :-)
A 4 year old b& g macaw, wasn't go in to announce it,because of some of the "flack" I got before, but I have found that basically you don't have to have "experience" to have any parrot you want, just research, research, research and COMMON SENSE,lol I didn't have any experience when I had my first of 6 children....lol...anyway she's a girl named Jodi hatched 4/27/2010! I love her!!!!only had her since Monday(late Christmas present) she has pinched me 3 times the first 2 days, but not since, she really wants to bond with me,she has stepped up 5 times, and came and found me in the bathroom once.lol, she keeps licking me and giving kisses, its pretty easy to tell when she doesn't want me to mess with her,she says...stop it,back up! Oh yea she also keeps trying to "feed me" such a beauty!!! Can't wait to take her to vet. And get nails etc. Done. Happy new year all! PS. Olly and all the other FIDS doing great, but lol Olly (o.w.a) that WAS the bully and biggest fid on the block is not soooo BIG now lol

Oh and please don't take the above statement wrong,I certainly welcome any advice on her!!! :)

Can't wait to see pictures of your new baby! Glad to hear that she has been settling in quite well.
Agreed. You don't necessarily need to have a lot of experience (actually, this goes for a lot of different things) but you do need to have compassion, commitment, and some well-known knowledge in order for you to start or continue what you're doing or what you want to start.

You're going to have a very busy and noisy house now (in the best possible way):D The new baby may be bigger physically, but I bet Mr. Olly will still be the bossy pants of the house:54: Hope you'll post pics and let us in on the name of your new baby:D

Congratulations Michelle! I agree, everyone has to start somewhere :) ...like you said, before you had your first child, you didn't have any "experience", all you had was people telling you what it's like, and reading material :D Afterall, no one gives birth and says this is their "starter human" LOL!

If you can raise children, you can raise a macaw.

I agree. You learn how to take care of and train the species you want, and then you get what you want.

They are amazing aren't they?! Not what most people expect.

Yep! Escape proof cages aren't.

That's the way to win a macaw over right there! Pitty they're so aggressive, hun?!

Congrats! I, too, can't wait to see pics! I have wondered where you've been...haven't seen you on here for a while.

I'm gonna post some pics in a little bit! :) thanks y'all!! And yes birdman she is ferocious! Lol I think she's gonna lick me to death, she does try to bite sometimes, and I will admit, the first few hours I was scaaaared of that huge beak, then I remembered reading about how u aren't suppose to let them know u are afraid,so I took the bull by the horns or rather the parrot by the beak and told her,no no no we do not bite the hand that feeds us! I went to put her to bed, which she does not like, she started to bite then instead SHE said no no no...I said that's right! Night night.

Glad you are enjoying. Macaws are really silly birds. Mine kept standing on his head on the perch last night to get his tummy rubbed .
They do lick a lot. Freaked me out at first.
