proud mommy of a cockatiel & yellow sided green cheek conure :)
hi everyone! i finally got to bring home my baby yellow sided green cheek on tuesday. she's doing great :) she is on one hand feeding a day but has a ferocious appetite! tearing apart millet, pellets, seeds, & i even got her to eat grapes. im not sure of sex but i think personality wise she is a girl... i named her zoey. she is so sweet & has already learnt "step up" and she cuddled up on my shoulder putting her body against my face and started grinding her beak and falling asleep every time i said her name.... could not be happier... ohhhh & she LOVES her snuggle hut! her & my cockatiel are still getting used to each other.... they show no interest in one another... my tiel is strongly bonded with my boyfriend so when he is showing zoey attention chicken gets a tad jealous... i made sure to tell him to show chicken lots of love before he gives zoey attention so she knows that he has not forgotten about her. any tips or advice you guys can give a new gcc mommy?

Green cheeks are awesome birds and excellent first parrots. Make sure you handle her often though, like all parrots, they can get an attitude if they aren't frequently handled. I tamed quite a few who just weren't given attention. They are sweet little fiddlers if you give them attention daily.

Congrats.Greenies are the best, they are velcro birds and love attention. Mine is cuddly but can be very bossy too.But then I think thats what I like about conures.

Wow how exciting
Green Cheeks are awesome birds
Zoey need time to adjust to her new surrounding.
Just take it slowly, baby steps, one day at a time.

thanks guys! so i did run into a problem yesterday.... zoey & I were cuddling on my bed and my cockatiel decided to sit on top of zoey's cage... zoey got very territorial and went running over to chase her off the cage... i stopped the encounter but she definitely bit down on my finger pretty hard. i would have been very upset if she bit chicken like that... any one going/gone thru this? i would really love for them to get along... am i asking too much?
