It has taken me over a week to be prepared to write this but I have come to the conclusion that I will never be ready. However I had to say goodbye to my beautiful kitty Mollie last week.

Although she lived with my mum and dad, she was still my cat. Every pet I have ever had has been treated like a human. I believe that is why you have pets, not just for your enjoyment but so they become part of the family.

Well my baby was attacked by a dog in her own yard. She was always kept inside at night and stayed in her own yard. It is very hard for me to accept that she died alone and probably is not a nice way. This is what I cannot come to terms with and it breaks my heart. Tears are running down my face at the moment as it is so painful.

To my dearest little Miss Mollie Mouse, I have always loved you and I always will. You will never be forgotten and will live on in our hearts forever. I will not forgive myself that I could not have protected you forever and that you could have lived out your life of old age. I love you. RIP Mollie 1996 - 2014

I am so sorry for your terrible loss of Miss Mollie Mouse:( I cried while reading about her and what happened to her. I have no doubt that she knew how much she was loved in her life, and she took that with her when she went.
It is so awful when people don't keep their animals out of other people's yards!

Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers.

OH, Bundiibird....I am so sorry for your loss of your beloved Mollie.

I am a cat lover as well(we have 4) all rescues.

I can tell you adored her, how difficult this must be for you.

sending HUGS your way.

Thanks guys. She was very special to me. I think I could deal with it a little better if it was old age but knowing different makes it a bit harder. I know she was 18 but she was still in perfect health.

Beth as I said the hardest part was knowing what happened and for me not being there for her. I know that she lived with my mum and dad but I still cannot help feeling this way.

Thanks again for all of the kind thoughts.

As a child, I had a doggie who was also attacked and killed in his own back yard. So unfair and hurtful! :(

I'm so sorry about Miss Molly. She was a beautiful girl and I'm sure she knew she was very loved.

I'm so sorry to hear this!! So awful. Please try not to blame yourself. It's so extremely painful right now I know.

Oh I'm soooo sorry!! :( that is horrible! She was beautiful cat!

Amanda, I'm so sorry about Miss Mollie!!! I've got a very elderly cat too (Miss Buffy, 17) and I know how very precious each day becomes when they're that old. Miss Mollie's in a better place now and is no longer plagued by arthritis and failing eyesight and kidney problems. She was your dear cat for a long time and the main thing is to remember the love you had for her and she for you. XX

Thanks again guys. This is the one place where people understand that it was not "just" a cat. They become family.

What a beautiful kitty. I'm so sorry that you're going through this. What's difficult for all of us to wrap ourselves around is that the passing of our beloved pets is 'their time'. I know that you miss her dearly, and hope that all the sweet memories you hold of her will help you find strength. She is with you always.

Sorry for your loss of Mollie. Don't dwell on the very short traumatic time, but on all the time she had before that, being cosseted and loved.
