She has always been a bit of a horndog.I try not to pet her wings or belly and just stick to scritches or letting her hide under my hand and playing..But lately she has been really annoying with her backing up to my hand or my laptop and enjoying herself a bit too much.I normally just shoo her away or put her up.She has been clinging to my hand and hunkering down there too.I cant get her to let go sometimes...Sheesh she needs a man really bad:D
Of course I could be wrong and "HE" could need a lady friend..
Do you think its because of the new bird? Or just breeding season in full swing?

"Spring is in the air" lol. It might be that time of year. Our girl is going through a molt and has also been "in the mood" quite often as of lately.

Rowdy started being a horn dog a few days ago so spring is in the air! I thought maybe it was early this year, but I admit I haven't exactly kept a calendar on her um, habits. Thankfully she has never tried to breed with me. She has 2 toys she uses for that.

I am wondering if having the male amazon is going to make any difference this year. She has never laid an egg, but maybe this year she will? I gave her a brand new cuttle bone yesterday just in case, to let her build up calcium levels.

I did notice yesterday that she is imitating Pete's batman routine. He will hang upside down and flutter his wings, and then I say, "Batman! Batman!" Well, I looked at Rowdy and guess what? She was doing it back to him. Pete also tried to go meet her the other day. I don't want him on her cage though because she is territorial. If she goes after him, he will defend himself, and could hurt her badly.

I know the birds outside have started up with their spring calling. We have a male cardinal that comes back every year with his mate and set up camp in our bushes.
He's been here for about a week now.

Pete and Rowdy could be in love...Ive never had a bird lay eggs, do they do that without a mate? I mean I have chickens but Ive always assumed thats different.

Some female birds do lay eggs even without a mate. Cockatiels do it rather often. Rowdy is 12 now and has never done it before. Merlin has only once I guess, and she is 21.

Pete may be trying to woo Rowdy now since Merlin isn't giving him the time of day. He is bonkers about Merlin, but she isn't so agreeable, lol!

This is my first time with birds of different genders. All my budgies were male and I only had one at a time. My 2 conures were both female, and neither ever laid eggs. One conure died in October, which is why I got Pete, who does all male hormonal things so I think I can say he is a male.
