My fiance and I are going on a weeks vacation (in 2 weeks) and leaving Molly at home with my babysitter (who Molly knows and who handles her quite a bit when she is there) and my son (who doesn't handle her much because he isn't responsible enough to be left alone with her). She will have very good care and will not be left alone anymore than usual. However, I am worried she will be very mad at me for leaving her or decide she likes the babysitter better than me or something. She is just a baby still so I am hoping that will help her get used to us taking vacation without her sometimes. I will be sad to be leaving her but I am also happy to be going on vacation. Anyone have experience with leaving a young conure while you go away for a week?

I really don't think a week will alter much. Sounds like she'll have good care. Even if she gets a bit too fond of Babysitter, you can reverse that, I do believe.
I'm worried about YOU, too... you're gonna miss Molly. Remember to have fun!

I know right...I think I'm worrying about Molly but what's really happening I'm the one who is gonna freak out! Lol. I'll FaceTime her. :p

I knew it!
I miss the Rb so much when I go away... I play his vids over and over and sing with his J-Lo mimics, in his own parrot-y voice, much to the annoyance of his Rival and all present. "Da booteeee, da booty, it's a biggg bigggggg booooootie", etc., etc.
I knew it!
Yep.

Yeah since I got her, she is all I can really talk about or think about lol. I am assuming that I will never stop feeling this way about her and I will be a parrot lady who talks about her parrot 24/7. I am definitely shed some tears while I am away. I am sure she will be just fine!

Make sure to tell her , several times , that you will be away for 1 week and not to worry because you will be back for her. Believe me its important and she will not be so upset with you. When I go to China for 2 weeks, if I dont tell Salty about it, he is mad at me for a week when I get home.

Thank you! I'm so happy I can do something to ease any suffering of her poor baby bird heart. I will tell her starting tomorrow about me leaving for a week. :)

I separate from my birds about 3 times yearly for a one-week period and haven't notice any lasting effects. Of course they are mature and the relationship is durable, so I don't have any guidance for your situation. Face-Timing is a great idea. I frequently film and show iPhone videos to my birds, and they most certainly focus and react to the screen images!

Have a great vacation!!

I show her videos of other Sun Conures so she doesn't feel alone in the world. She stares at them and is very interested. She sometimes talks back to them...I wonder what she says to them. I will FaceTime her and I started telling her I will be gone for a week but I'll be back for her. Mon chou! We're going to France so I call her French nicknames sometimes. Mon chou means "sweetie".

Aw, just a mommy bird missing her chick :) Molly will be fine and in good hands!! That is great she is comfortable with the babysitter, just make sure to give her proper instructions, and a good tip! And don't forget to ENJOY YOURSELF!!!

I leave Friday and there is the overwhelming sense of dread in me pertaining to leaving my baby! I even woke her up for a few minutes to get 10 mins more time with her. I know I am not supposed to do that but I promise I won't make a habbit of it. I just feel like she is going to be so cross with me. :-( Not to mention I'm going to miss her way too much. How do you guys bare to leave your birdies?! You're so brave.
