Goffin screaming

Hey Everyone, Am new here and have a major problem. My female goffin is appx. 4yrs. is suddenly started screaming. Its seems to happen every morning and evening. I've tried covering her when she starts in. I cover her for about 10 minutes. I tell her no scream. She stops and as soon as I uncover her she starts in again. Nothing has changed here in the home. I have been wracking my brain on this one. Any ideas on how I can stop her from this BAD habit? Thanks

Hello and welcome to the forum, it is very common for most birds to vocalize in the morning and evening, even in so called "Quiet" birds, it usually only lasts for a short time, having taken 4 years for your bird to now start is the unusal part, I have two Too's that do it at the same time, along with a macaw, so I know that the noise can be a bit much, It's a natural behavior so I don't know that you'll be able to stop it, you might try letting her do her thing without reacting to it and see if she doesn't just stop after a few minutes as most birds do, by ignoring the screaming instead of covering her up you'll have a better chance of it only lasting a short while.......good luck

Fred has a noisy period in the evening as well. It's a little "annoying" but shortlived. We just ignore him, and hope the phone doesn't ring during this period....

Welcome to the Forum. I have to agree with the advise above. As annoying and deafening as it is at times, morning and evening screaming is all part of sharing your home with a parrot

Morning and evening screaming is a natural behavior in parrots. It is the way that they locate thier flock waking up and before bedding down. It is acceptable behavior here. This is also breeding season for Toos. Allowing her to sound off for about 30 mins or so is beneficial. Covering her will just frustrate her at what comes natural.
