Just an update on Little Bird. I meant to post much sooner but I had two unexpected surgeries almost back to back and recovery has been slow and I just wasn't in good shape for quite awhile.
So.... I think he is a she. Since moving to the living room in better light, eyes are brown. And, well, kinda funny actually, I thought she was having a seizure but she wasn't and that has now become a part of her everyday behavior with whatever toy fits the bill at the time
She hasn't attacked me since February. Those were kinda rough. She was unmanageable and had to be toweled (she's not afraid of them) and put in her cage and left alone for longer than a normal timeout. She is still not fond of hubby but as long as she's not attacking we are happy with that. Her bites have gotten way lighter too, she gets a short time out whenever she gets too rough and that's worked like a charm.
She LOVES toys now and her favorite pastime is making splinters. She can chomp through a nice big macaw toy in no time at all.
She is the quietest bird I've ever owned to the point I thought something was wrong with her at first. But I think it's just her. She screams bloody murder when I run the vacuum or when something from the outside scares her. She makes a quiet little cry when I leave the room and when I go to bed (every night). I'm assuming that's her contact call. And she makes these cute little bup-bup air noises when she plays with some of her toys.
She eats so, so much better now too and a variety of things. Her daily staple is harrisons, Zupreem, nutriberries, and Volkman seed. She also eats fruits and veggies and now willingly tries whatever I put in her food bowl. Oatmeal and scrambled eggs are the current favorites. Her weight is up to 256 grams!
She's my little buddy and loves to just sit on my lap and destroy toys, every once in awhile running up under my chin or jumping to my shoulder usually with a bit of a toy in her mouth.
I can't get over how she uses her little toes for everything and how she jumps!! She's constantly grabbing and tapping at things, including me, with those cute little toes. She's currently had a short hospital stay and is on the mend, but I put that in a separate post. I just wanted everyone to know how well she is adjusting after her bit of a rough start.
