Gilbert Oliver, Blue Crown Conure; Georgie, Sun Conure (2/8/01-8/8/12) RIP little girl; Percy, budgie 1993-1999. RIP Pepito-spanish timbrado canary
I took Gil for a nail and beak trim (they grew like CRAZY, my fingers have a bunch of little slices from those sharp nails, I swear he sits in the cage and sharpens them to needle points while I'm at work, haha) and bought him a new toy. Then we took a walk because it was a gorgeous fall day. I wound up with a new favorite photo of him:

And I got a few other nice fall pics.
I also tried the new steam cleaner I got for him. It was fun cleaning the cage with that thing. Gil stood on the tv across the room, looking down as I blasted the cage and perches. Thanks to the thread I was following on here, I realized how cool those things are for cage cleaning!! I proceeded to use the steamer upstairs in my bathroom on the tile and when I came down Gilbert had taken an epic bath. Love how they go bath crazy when we are on a cleaning spell. :)

What a beautiful shot of Gilbert! He is just such a sweet bird! And I love the look on his face!

Do the steamers make that big a difference with cage cleaning? (And bathroom tile cleaning, for that matter?)

I thought first of all that the steamer was 'fun' to use. But yes it seemed to quite quickly blast away bird poop! I let it get quite poopy (it hadn't been wiped clean in a week and not deep cleaned in a couple weeks, just daily paper changes and bowl washing). So he had some caked poo on perches and around the bars of the cage. It was pretty easy to steam it away. I used a narrow attachment with a brush on the end, so it was really focused spray of steam with the brush to really scrub it away. I like it.
I want to use it on the windows next. But I did like it for the bathroom tile. It feels nice and clean with just clean water. So I am happy with it. I found it to be less 'yucky' with how the steam works as opposed to spraying with poop off and wiping (that was my method all along).

YES!

I've been using one for 8-9 years now, and actually I think I'm on my fourth steamer. I tend to wear them out... (Like vacuums.)

For me, it's not optional equipment if you have birds. Especially in the winter time when you can't just haul them outside and hose them down.

I got the Wagner 915.

Lol I had to laugh about the "fun" you had with the new steam cleaner! I keep saying I need to get one. IMO cleaning chores are NEVER fun! I love afterward when things are nice and clean, but I definitely don't enjoy the doing it. Looks like it's time for me to get a steam cleaner and turn drudgery of cleaning into "fun" :).

I'm glad Gilbert is enjoying himself. He's quite the handsome guy!

Heeeeere's GILLY!

Oh Patti, what a spectacular photo of your most magnificent Gilly!!! :D Looking at the different shades of colors in the trees in the background just 'almost' makes me enjoy fall. ;) (I'm a spring and summer gal and LOVE the heat)

Thank you for reminding me to put steam cleaner on my list for Santa. :54:

Gilbert is beautiful and such a fantastic photo that is! What camera do you use?

I use a Nikon D5100 (inexpensive DSLR, not full frame, but I am still happy with it).

I am the same (Spring/Summer person) but I am ok with a taste of each season. I just wish spring and summer took up most of the year.
The steam cleaner is a great wish list item. I made an Amazon wish list for my birthday and that's when I got it.

What type of steamer did you get? (brand, model)
