Hi! I received such a warm welcome in the new members forum, I already love this forum! So helpful!

I’ll be getting my cockatiel, also my first ever bird, the weekend after next. I’m so excited! I’ve been researching for months, and preparing ever since I started talking to the breeder 6 weeks ago. I now have his cage set up (thought I may change the arrangement of perches, I still have time to figure it out!) and I’m just waiting on my bird to be fully weaned! His cage is 18 by 30 by 30. Now I just need to fill it with toys! But of course I don’t want to overwhelm him at first.

I have to say, I feel like I have found the best breeder ever! And I have a pretty high bar, I show my dogs and have dealt with wonderful breeders, and I still have relationships with all of them. She is just as good as those dedicated breeders :)
She has been training him to step up and step down, and I had a harness sent to her and she will be working with him on the harness for the next two weeks until he comes home! She has given me so much great advice on care, diet and supplies!

I am so excited to bring home my first bird! We think he is a male because he is very vocal, and his name is Beemo :) Here is a picture of him getting scratches from his breeder after a bath.

How exciting! Looking forward to you sharing Beemo’s journey with us :)

So very awesome! If it isn’t too late, see if the breeder is open to harness training your baby! Worth a few extra $$!

What a cutie! How did you come up with his name?

He is named after one of my favorite characters from a show called Adventure Time! I’m a big fan of animation :) Beemo is actually a little robot and sometimes his/her friends call him he, sometimes she- since Beemo is a robot it doesn’t matter. I thought it was a good name especially when I didn’t know the sex of my baby bird! But, we do think Beemo is a male, because he whistles a lot.

Congratulations on your new addition! Beemo is super cute and the name is perfect. Looking forward to Beemo’s homecoming, please share lots of photos.

What a beautiful bird, and having an ethical breeder is a huge plus!

Looking forward to the homecoming!
