Any ideas on how to do this? He is pretty frightened of it and wont go anywhere near it... yet he really needs his claws and beak trimmed so is off to the vet tomorrow. I have had him close to it, but as soon as he has had enough of his favourite treats he will get angry if i dont put him back on or in his cage lol.

Can you make it look like fun to be inside of the case? Put some treats inside also. Keep the case sitting out near his cage so he can see it and learn not to be afraid.
Once you get him inside go on some test drives in the car.

Ok i have put a couple of his favourite toys in and a treat that he loves... he has come to the edge a couple of times but promptly runs away after grabbing the little piece of treat to get him close lol.

Thanks for your help!

Any one have any examples of how they managed to get their birds use to it? Problem is its his first vet visit tomorrow so its not exactly the best visit for him to relate to his new travel cage lol.

One thing I do once in awhile as well as go for fun rides in the car is to put them in it when I take their cages outside for a good scrub down. That way they know it's not always off to the vet, and maybe not off to anywhere at all. You can also try loading the bird so it's going in backwards. They seem less likely to try to grab onto the door and not go in that way. I have also held lightly onto the bird's feet or put my other hand next to them to prevent them from grabbing onto the side.

Make sure you start well ahead of when you need to leave for the vet so you don't feel rushed or nervous. Once he's in make sure you give him a treat. On the way to the vet talk or sing to him (whichever he prefers).

I put a towel around Amigo, which he doesn't mind, and he pops right in. I'll cover his travel cage in the car, not sure if that's a correct procedure, but he's always very still and quiet during our car trip.

Little update. Managed to get him in for a little trip to my girlfriends house as her mum has been dieing to see him. He was fine once he was in it and had to use the towel technique aswell. Loved listening to music in the car so i think thats may what i have to do. Using a towel seems the easiest way and noone gets hurt!
