Getting Excited!

I placed a big order today for Pepper! I have all kinds of perches, food, toys, etc coming for one very spoiled Grey! (couldn't resist the new palm curl things for River too) My credit card is crying in pain, but it will get over it eventually lol. I can hardly wait for all her things to come to get her cage all ready for her! :)

Can't wait to see the set up! Flight plans??

I think that first photo of all the loot should be entitled "Just add Bird". :) Pepper is a lucky girl!

It looks like the loot that has been arriving for Merlin:) Today the mail lady said, "I think this bird owns more than I do!" I had to agree!

You can't even fit them all into one photo!! It is so much fun to open one of Mysafebirdstores packages. It is like Christmas all over again.

Whew! What a workout arranging and rearranging perches and toys! Here's the set up hubby and I put together. She's got more toys of course in her toybox for rotating later. Oh, and the dowel will be coming out once my lovely perch from roxydoodle arrives! :) (just put it in there for now to judge where to put the other stuff) What do you all think?

Now all I need is Pepper! Waiting is sooooooo very hard!

My Grey spends 90% of her day in the bottom of the cage, lol! I have since located most perches to near the bottom, and toys are now hanging on the sides of the cage, most of them down there, too. She has a few floor type toys as well. I had this big pinwheel that came with Pete, but he had no interest in it. Merlin loves it. She perches on it, and spins it. I now think the ideal cage for her would be several feet of floor space and maybe only 1.5 feet tall, lol! She mostly eats on the floor, too. And usually sleeps down there, on one of the low perches or the pinwheel.

Everything looks very nice though in your set up. Perches will be on the way soon! Right now the snow isn't so awful, just the wind. It's very cold.

I wonder if Pepper will prefer being closer to the floor? Any other grey parents have birds that like the floor? I will have to wait and see if she wants her perches rearranged. :)

The pinwheel toy sounds awesome! I have a few foot toys ready and waiting on the bottom of Pepper's cage.

Niles is 6 month old and loves the floor of his cage. He will sit on the floor and babble and talk to himself. When I come in the room he usually gets on a perch to come out though.

I know in the wild, Greys generally spend much of their day on the ground, eating. Then at night they fly up into a tree. So a lot of ground time may be normal for them. But, today I learned from the vet that Merlin has bad cataracts and can barely see anything but maybe some shadows. No wonder she feels more comfortable down there. It probably won't be long before she has no sight at all.
