Well I know what it feels like getting bit by my blue& gold on the fore arm bad enough too swell my forearm up pretty good. This bite was from my greenwing on the hand when I tried to pet her on the head with out paying attention plus my blue & gold had her all bugged out. Man she got me in between my thumb and pointer finger before I could say ouch she released. Is it possible for my male and female too bond from twenty feet away from each other? When I take the female out of my den the male goes nuts.

Nothing like a good solid bite to wake one up regarding keeping an eye on what our Parrots are up too.

Birdman666 is the total MAC expert and with hope he will stop by to add to this Post. As a base understanding, MAC's love to be part of the party and if one is getting attention, the other(s) will want to be part of the gathering.

Not totally sure what you mean by Bonding from a distance, but if you are inferring developing a relationship, sure.

Ha, I wish I had taken photos of Gus's bites. Blue and Gold, not a big one either, barely 950 grams. Bandages for weeks. Dark scars persist to this day. The latest bite was just an exploratory test, didn't break the skin, but is still tender. When they decide to BITE it is gets noticed! I wound up using ace bandages and leather wraps under my sleeve, thanks to Birdman666, and then the bites don't hurt but it pisses him off!

OUCH!!!! I have been bit between the thumb and finger too before, lots of nerves in that area of the hand. Sounds like your bird sensed all eyes weren't on him and took advantage of the opportunity to remind you he was there and he wanted your undivided attention. Could also be that you petted him wrong, weren't providing as steady of a perch as he'd like or he was temporarily possessed by the bird devil:p

I second the big OUCH !!
Our B&G is still a baby and haven't had any bites from her yet. Still just visiting her on weekends. We know it will happen sooner or later. We just hope it does not wind up to bad to warrant a trip to the hospital.
Both Kelly and I had our share of bites from our Severe Macaw, PJ over the course of 29 years and they can be very painful.
We feel your pain :)

Thanks
Kelly and Karl
