Green cheeked conure questions?
Hello! I just got a GCC 4 days ago. He's very friendly and cuddly, and I was wondering how long does it take for a bird to get used to its new home? He has been eating great, playing a bit with his toys, and he actually has not problem with me. He lets me sit near him and have my hand on the cage (I havent tried to touch him). Yesterday I sat with him about 2 hours just with my hand on the cage talking to him and he came really close to me and started to dance? It was cute! he was talking to me too. When should i try to get him to "step up" and just basically handle him? Thanks!

He will be a year in april btw
And hes been on my finger before once tho (petstore)

Some birds depending on age will take to you right away. A good starter is to open the cage and start to give him pieces of food by hand that way he will get use to you. Try rubbing him behind the ear or the back of the head. If he gets fluffed up he's ready to be touched. If not just keep hand feeding, and talk to him. No suden movements.

If he has been handreared it is best to keep as much contact as possible. Speak very gently and talk all the time while approaching as birds are very sensitive to voices and as erik stated sudden movements. Be confident and the bird will feel safe with you.
Food is also a good offer especially if they have a favourite food.
Enjoy your new friend they make excellent companion and the more you give the more they give back.
