I just read the poopology on avianweb and it didnt really give me an idea whats going on with my bird.

I moved out of my parents basement last december where i had over 300g of fish tanks. Since then petrie has had very runy stools and if i dont get her from the sleeping cage to her main cage fast enough she makes a mess.

I have figured it was due to humidity because when i started running my swamp cooler the problem went away. When temperatures became moderate and the swamp cooler wasnt running every day the problem came back.

I know i need to get her into the vet but with everything going on in the move i just kept forgetting. Then it went away so i wasnt worried as much.

Now its back and i have been getting worried again. I will just have to take a day off work since i cant get there before they close

Any thoughts?

I know that dyes in foods can cause more runny droppings....

She is on harrisons super fine which is organic and no dies. I had her on seed for a few months a while back because i couldnt get to rhe vet for food. She had alot of problems including pulling feathers. She did return to normal before i moved.

She has been on the same food ever since i gor her except what i mentioned.

I think i read something in that article about varying her food. Should i start getting her fruits and veggies again?

I am going to order a panel for a much larger humidifier that i have. Hope that works

Also ralked to my dad today and he says our new vet does birds. Since we do all his hvac work he gives us free vet care

Would be a good idea to get her checked out, at least to be on the safe side. Yes, she should be eating fresh foods.

I have been meaning to getting her back onto fresh foods I've just had so much going on and could barely take care of myself properly in the past. Best I've managed is food water and attention.

I just got some pears for her on my way home from work.

I can understand that. There's been times I couldn't get fresh food for my birds, but they still had food and water!

I just recently made a new batch of fresh/cooked foods, and have filled up 6 ice cube trays 3 times... and there's still a little left over! LOL But you actually made me think about something...

I wonder if, and how many, bird clubs have a meeting dedicated to making mash for parrots - then each member who helped to make the mash got to take some of it home. This would be great for those people who don't have large flocks but could benefit from having a small amount for their own birds.

That would be pretty cool, would be nice to simply meet new people.

I was thinking of getting some budgies and have made a few posts trying to find out what I can before I make the dive. Don't have the money right now anyways so when I finally do it will be nice to know everything to expect.

Is there a local section to this forum?

edit: no local section but I made a suggestion, looks like that and a chat room have been suggested already. Even a chatroom would be nice, it's hard to find nice people on the internet to chat with. Every time I try it's nothing but ill mannered people with the maturity of an 11yo. I downloaded Zillow as an admin suggested in a thread, theres supposed to be some kind of groups for chatting, I will have to look into that.
