My pineapple GCC is 12 weeks old. Even though i have only had him for three weeks, we are very bonded. I spend most of my time at home due to disability, and he pretty much spends his entire day attached to various parts of my clothing :)
On Sunday we are picking up our new hand reared cockatiel baby who is ten weeks old. I have just bought a stack two cage unit as i know its not wise to house together.
I am wondering what is the best way of introducing them. I am anticipating a bit of jealousy from Chunky. I know about the 30 day quarantine. I am not sure which bird would be best housed in my bedroom for this period. Chunky will NOT be pleased, but, i dont want to isolate Oswald as he needs to get used to his new home. Plus i want to start training straight away.
Any advice?

What's worked for me is to take new birds to each resident bird, in their cage, introducing them much the same as you introduce children to adults, then being sure that the newbies do not receive any attention of greater import than your existing flock members.....everybody needs to get the same attention and treats, never let any bird think another is getting preferential treatment.....

You may also want to take new birds around & let them beak & even tongue window panes and mirrors so that they understand that there are obstructions there.....

Good luck.....

Thanks weco, thats what i wanted to do, but was worried about the quarantine issues. Saying that, my breeder is very reputable. She has been hand rearing for over 30yrs. I very much doubt there will be anything wrong.
