Future plans for your birds' setups?

I think I've decided...I want to eventually sell my cockatiels' double flight cage and buy a tree just like this one to replace it.

My tiels are already "free range" and have their own room, so why not go all the way and get rid of the cage entirely? No more worrying about rust, cleaning cage grates, etc. And it would look so much more attractive.

I also want to replace my galah's current 36" x 28" cage with [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Double-Macaw-Bird-Cage-White/dp/B003LVTJEI/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1392836635&sr=8-6&keywords=double+macaw+cage"]one of these[/ame].

I won't be able to do this for a while, just having fun thinking and planning!
What are your dreams and plans for your bird rooms/areas?

Actually, I was just thinking last night that I should 'do up' his window for an extra play area. He's suddenly developed an interest in hanging out in the window (it is closed, no chance of escape) so I think a few doodads in there may just be the thing :)

Good topic!

I definitely want a bird room in the future, but it will be a few years, a few more birds, and a possible move across the country before I make that happen. At the moment I need more perches and fun birdie hangouts around the house, so I'm trying to work on that. I'm planning to get a java tree playstand as well as a few ropes and cargo nets to hang from the ceiling. Maybe an orbiter or a jolly ball too.

Well when I get my own place I'm hoping blue can have something similar to what Tabs done to her room. Maybe not quite so hardcore lol but it would be amazing.

I'm really struggling to do anything with blue at the minute as mum throws a hissy fit anytime she's out!!!

That's the plan anyways :O

It's fun to think of future bird set ups. That's how you know you're obsessed with birds. :)
Next thing coming up should really be a new cage for Robin. Nearly 20 years ago I got him a good quality Cal Cages cage, but still it has wear and tear. The SS cages might last a 'lifetime', but the powder coated ones (even top quality) don't. I want to try a play top this next time (powder coated).

When I have a house of my own again...

I'll have a bird room, quite simply put and be able to get proper cages.

The set up I have now though is fine. My birds are 'free range' mostly as in the cage doors never get shut so...

What does Tabs bird room look like? I'm curious!

Errmmmm there are pictures about. I dunno how to do links and stuff. Hopefully someone can point you in the right direction!!! It's amazing ;)

I used to have a bird room with cage free birds, but since moving, it's now a bird room with cages. I would like to convert the room back into being a cage-free room, however I have two birds who do not get along well with the others, let alone each other! Not only that, but I may be moving sometime this year.... not sure when, just potentially this year.

If I were to move, I would not be able to do cage-free.... which leaves me with another option.... indoor aviaries. I would require at least two (and this is with the assumption that the two birds who don't get along with the other birds might be able to share a larger space than a regular cage) and they come at a pretty penny!

If I were to do this, I would have the fun joys of figuring out flooring over carpet that can't be removed!

These look like great future setups for your birds, Aether! We will be selling the cage you mentioned on our site soon. We currently have the Java Tree setup at the same price (a 10% off coupon is available too). When you are ready to create your bird room, consider giving us a shout :)

I'm also planning to get Jack, my budgie boy, a new bigger cage. He is such a "new thing" phobe however that it may take time for him to settle.
