I have finally made my deposit on my baby TAG, he should be home July 1st. I have been looking at various stands, perches, toys, etc. I have bought 2 different African Grey handbooks, and read several things both here and other websites. But, nothing i have found really states if you should furnish your bird's cage with "baby items" or if at 4 months old "standard" perches and toys will be suitable. How much will his age factor into what i should buy for the cage? Is this something i should worry about?

Congrats! At 4 months he should act(climb, perch and play) just like an adult bird. My 10 week old gcc's are perfectly fine with normal cage setups. They don't need anything on the bottom because they spend their time in the top of the cage killing their toys, except when they want out they go on the bottom of the cage to pace.

I have a timmie named Rosie. I got her at 13 weeks of age and she was still clumsy in the cage. I suggest you not use the perches that come with the cage. Instead go the route of natural perches and the rope ones are good also. Try not to overwhelm him with too many toys in the cage at first. Congrats on choosing a wonderful bird. You will be amazed how smart they are.
