Fruit for BCC

Pretty much anything you see a larger bird can eat a blue crowned can to it just has to be chopped smaller. My blue crowned loves what you stated, oranges, bananas, green beans, broccoli, other greens and veggies, etc.... So try everything that is safe just chop it smaller:)

pretty much anything but avocados and raisins. Mine especially loves mangos!!!!! some of my birds are very picky but my BCC will try anything! Also I think this recipe is awesome its got lots of different things in it Chop Mix For Your Birds

Mine doesn't like bananas lol I'm going to start going down a list of different fruits and see what he/she does and doesn't like

No raisins, what about grapes?
Which beans were ok to cook and feed?
Everyone keeps saying any greens and veggies, but not raisins and avocados. Is there anything else to avoid in the fresh food section?? I've heard there might be other things not to feed, but I was so paranoid today at the store! I think that list would help a bit more.
I couldn't tell if hot peppers were ok, or what beans are ok or which leafy greens. I know iceberg for most animals has far too much water content to make it worth anything other than for hydration. So that's three things to avoid.
It's going along with the thread topic, so I shouldn't be high-jacking it. =D

all beans except Fava beans as long as cooked are ok to feed them. Iceberg is so very bad for animals it will actually kill them! so NO ICEBERG! all other greens are ok though of course organic non GMO and pesticide free are always best! I will look for a more thorough list online secuono

sorry secuono having trouble finding a list if you are unsure of something you can always google it or ask here lots of people here can answer if its an ok food :)

It's ok, I'll keep searching and maybe be able to compile a big ol' fancy-pants list some day soon.

Why not raisins? Crud....I read somewhere to give birds the little sunmaid boxes of raisins so it was like foraging.
I also read no onions or mushrooms.

right no mushrooms or onions and raisins are bad for all animals something about being dried makes them toxic to animals an occasional treat wont kill them but I never give them to them cause they can kill them if they eat them often.

Some of the posts recommend chopping up smaller than large bird size pieces. Personally, I like feeding my Cherry-headed conure (a little smaller than adult BCC, usually) large pieces of fruit and veggies sometimes. I think it is good way to offer a type of foraging that is different than finding hidden or hard-to-get-at foods. Pritti has no problem figured out how to get into a whole organic apple and what he feels like, same with peeled cucumber, broccoli, sugar snap peas, pears, corn on cob, etc. etc. I don't always do it that way, just once in a while. Other times they are small chop, and other times they are larger wedges too. Keep foods and sizes varied is my 2 cents.

only thing I will add to that is corn is one of the most GMO foods out there so I make sure to get only organic corn for my boy.
