My lovely little Black Cap Conure, Lucy (in the sky with diamonds) <3
ALLO ALL! It's been a LONG time!

I've been considering getting another bird (conure or smaller) for a friend for Lucy! NOT A CAGE MATE! well, maybe... but I'd prefer if they not bond completely to eachother! I was thinking about a love bird or another conure like a green cheek or a dusky or something... anyone have any ideas? :) I'm still doing some reading on it and I haven't found another bird I'm totally in love with since Lucy <3 I love her!! annnyyyywayssssss!!!! I'm just looking for some suggestions :)

Maybe you could just get like a keet...like I think possibly like a year after I get my bird I will get him a keet to talk to :) Since keets dont really take up much room and they arent too hard to care for.

I was thinkin' something small too. Boyfriend's got his eye on an Indian Ringneck... I do too, but I'm not sure how the 2 would interact if they were both out at the same time :)

It all depends on the birds personality. You could possibly bring Lu to meet the new bird before you buy it. Another green cheek or black cap would be good if you have a big cage. If they like each other you might be able to put them in the same cage. The only problem with that is that Lucy might not let you interact with the other bird or they could get bonded. If you get another black cap and put him in the same cage make sure the new one is a female because im assuming you dont want any chicks!!

NOOO! No chicks haha

We're really interested in an Indian Ringneck to be honest haha. We're looking for a bird that will NOT try to eat Lucy... and vice-versa haha I've considered taking Lucy with me when I go looking. I was tempted to get a Patagonian Conure I found this weekend but they're just too noisy (at least this one was! haha) I'm planning on keeping the new bird and Lucy in separate cages so that they are friendly with each other, but not bonded. (the idea is a bird for me, a bird for my boyfriend, even though both birds will be loved equally and very very much by both of us) we're still exploring options, but he's dead set on an IRN lol I'm hoping maybe they'll be compatible so we can have them out at the same time once quarantine is up

Ringnecks are LOUD just FYI. A conure and a ringneck together in the same house.... You would be brave.

Haha good to know! thanks!! I'm still doing research lol There's a Jenday I've ben looking at too, i know they're loud haha I wish I could find a list of parrots in order by loudness hahaha

To be honest, the volume isn't what bothers me, it's the pitch! Lu screeches super loud but not all the time so it's ok lol I know all parrots are loud though so I'm prepared for some noise lol

Jenday... *shutters* That is a scream I could never take.

I've never heard one scream... Still doing research! haha Currently reading up on senegals, meyers, and red-bellies :) I think I'm having more fun learning about all of the parrots I can than actually picking a specific the breed I'm looking for lol

O god I heard 2 CATALINA MACAWS screaming at the SAME TIME. Then it turned into a screaming war. IT WAS EAR PIERCING!!!!! lol

oh jeeze that's adorable!! haha Lucy attacks her bell in a ball every day! she's got a little cow bell too and rings it every. single. morning. which is kinda cool because she wakes me up the same time my alarm generally goes of! haha and she helps me pick out my clothes lol

Andrea...that is so funny about your lil Lucy attacking her bell in a ball! My Rio Loves/Hates his bell in a ball! He will puff up and throw it and chase it and throw it and chase it...etc. I would take it out of his cage but he only goes to the bottom to do this every so often and I think its a good "stress" reliever for him! haha My 3yr old loves to give it to him so he can throw it they basically play catch with it! so cute!!
