ok so Banks is like almost 3 months the breeder told me if I wanted to get him a friend or another bird, i should do it before a year, is that correct, and to get the same sex so they don't become a breeder pair. I am a stay at home mother so as far as Banks getting lonely that is no problem, but if i did wnat to get another bird, is that true. Its so crazy Imaa in love with this little guy he is so silly and the kids adore him, Im not trying to run out and get a amazon knowing I am not experience enough plus that does require alot of work from the whole family, I belive once you have any pet, they are your responsibilty no matter what, I treat all my pets like there my kiddos! and thoes little boys drive me nuts! lol

also if I do get another bird does it have to been a green cheek for them to get along, and could they be in the same cage? I have 3 cages only using one, the other ones are way to big, espically for the conures the bar spacing is to wide, but my husbands friend gave them to us so i too them even tho i don't have room for them.

I am very curious about this too. I do not want another bird at this time but was wondering about that for in the future :)

By getting another one while they're young makes it easy to place them together without problem with older birds. Once they get older, they get that pecking order that they have to deal with. While young, they're more curious and playful more then anything else. Most likely not care when there's a new baby around that they can wrestle with. BUT if your home a lot, he really don't have to have a playmate. By having a second bird, you have to quarantine so you take that time to train the new one before placing them together so you don't run into the problem of training them. When there's two together, it's not as easy to train when there's only one.

Good advice from Mike. Think of them just like people. Children are more open to making friends that adults.
