- Ring neck Parakeet
Hi all,
I found a ring neck parakeet a couple of days ago in the garden.
The bird is young and has problems with both feet and also has swollen ankles.
I would appreciate any advice one could give as I have never owned a bird and am a bit clueless on what needs to be done.
I have called several rescue's and all seem to be providing another rescue's number.
I have been feeding the bird peanuts and mashed bananas. - Seems to be eating well.
I am willing to keep the bird as I fear letting him go will make him prey for cats/foxes. - Plus as his feet/ankles are bad, its unable to take off for flight, i know that soon enough it will be strong enough to take off without needing a lift of from feet however I fear it wont be able to land on branches etc and will again eventually become prey.
Please see photo's attached. Again, any help/advice would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
