What a beauty!!!!!! Oh I just love ekkies. Incidentally, I got that foraging ball (with skewer and bell) for George. He refused to touch it for days and days despite having his favorite treats inside so I finally gave up. My dad said that he's been foraging in his food cup for 26 years...it's hard to make a change! Hopefully a future feathered friend will be more of a forager.
Your birds are beautiful too! Keep trying the ball with George, maybe he'll get used to it. When we first got Scarlett she wasn't used to eating many fruits or veggies. She looked at me like I was crazy when I would offer her anything other than pellets or nuts! She has finally come around and will sit on her t-stand on the dining room table and eat dinner with us. She'll have rice or pasta with apples, grapes, peas, corn and just about anything else.
Today I did some trick training with her and although her attention span is not good, her hormones are calming down so she listened to me a bit. She's a funny girl!
We have that same foraging ball someone posted a picture of earlier in the thread. It's great. First thing I did was remove the bell with a pair of pliers. What's great about the one pictured is that you can use it as it is, filling the ball portion. You can also put goodies above the ball, or remove the ball altogether and use it as a kebob skewer!
One thing you may want to do is pre poke a hole through tougher fruits and veg, so as not to clog the threads with food matter when pressing the skewer in.
Sounds good....I'll have to get one like that sometime! Mine is just the plain ball. Scarlett uses it everyday and seems to have fun with it.
Your Ekkie is adorable!
