Food Rewards don't work

We recently adopted a Sun Conure. She is allegedly 2-3 years old. We have some issues and I am trying to work through with her. She isn't crazy about taking food from us. She is weary of any type food/ treat other than her seed. This makes it difficult to motivate her with food rewards. If I come near her while she is on top of her cage with something new or even something familiar, she runs away. I think this is going to make it even more difficult to train her and integrate her into our family. Any thoughts or comments are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If you haven't already, perhaps try offering the new foods to her while she is in her cage. Offer them as a daily part of her diet in her food bowl. Once you have her eating something that she likes, you can remove it from her daily intake and use it as a reward. A lot of birds won't take food from hands, I know my tiel won't and I have had her for 7 years. I use her feed bowl to offer rewards :)

Hi there, your bird need time to adjust. A month is such a short period even for a human to adjust to. To get used to the new environment and the new "flock".
Follow the advise as suggest above
Good luck

Socrates that I have had for just over 2 weeks now will not take food from my hand, but if sitting with me and I eat an apple he will do whatever it takes to get some of it. I figure in time he will take food from my hand but he is still learning so much and has been here such a short time that I do not expect the world of him yet. Give it time and patience and it will happen.
