Mango keeps putting food in his water bowl on purpose, weft is he doing this? Its annoying because its making it impossible to make sure he has fresh water, as soon ass I change it, it's dirty.

Simple solution

Keep the water bowl on one side of the cage and the food bowl the opposite side.

I did that and he brings it over to the other side

That's pretty common with all my zons. i too move the water dish away from the food,no help. I have gone to using the water bottles along with a dish.

My zon does the same thing. I use a Lixit water bottle now with the cup underneath to catch the drips.

Keep the water bowl on one side of the cage and the food bowl the opposite side.
That'll slow down the process by about 5 seconds but is not a solution.

Yup, that's a common one! My Percy doesn't make soup with ALL his food though but anything crunchy gets a soak ;)

My best advice - replace the water throughout the day. I don't have a problem doing this becuase my pensioner mom is home all day and monitors the water situation. But if you work out of the home, that won't be possible unfortunately. I would suggest you try water bottles - I've been meaning to try them too.

things to try are:
- Two water bowls that are away from each other and not where the bird likes to take his food to eat.
- Water bottle
- Water bottle and bowl

All of my birds use a water bottle and have for almost 20 years. Parrotlet, budgies, cockatiels, lovebirds, quaker, amazon, conures, senegals not one single problem with the birds figuring out how to use one.

Perhaps its a Zon things

It worked wonders with my AG Mishka

:grey:
Not just a zon thing, my conures and senegals and quaker did it too. At least for the first week I had each of them before I took the water dish away permanently.
I don't remember if it was an issue with any of the other species I've had.

My conure does that all the time. I just change the water first thing in the morning, when I get home from work, and before I go to bed.

Yep, my sennie does it too, just a few pieces here and there. I'm not a fan of water bottles so it just gets changed regularly.

I'm not a fan of water bottles either so I keep mine changed regularly. I only have two that makes soup now days as all the other birds stopped doing so thank goodness....

Caesar dose that as well.
I just change the water on a regular basis.:green2:

That's cute! As annoying as it is, he probably enjoys doing it and it keeps him stimulated :)

we have a water bottle on one side and a water bowl on the other, so she can dunk if she so desires! x

Ive heard about water bottles growing bacteria inside of them. My GW does that I guess he likes to soak his harrisons before he eats it lol

This did work for my 'zons. With the ekkie and hawkhead, I just change the water several times a day:)

Sunny (Sun Conure) makes soup too. I have to work hard at keeping his water clean and change it several times a day. I compare it to dipping oreo cookies in milk, lol.

My goffin (Gizzy) does this all the time! We change her water constantly and as soon as we turn around it's nasty again. My camilla (Phoenix) does this sometimes.
