Since watching the movie "Chasing Mavericks" I've wanted to go back really bad, I've been checking the surf report daily the past week and the wakes were anywhere from flat-6' waves so very safe compared to going there in the winter. In the winter the water can suddenly surge up onto the beach and get dragged out into the water(I barely avoided the water last time I went!). But that's when the waves are 25'-40' waves.
So here's our adventure pics, lots of flying photos because the wind was perfect.
And just for laughs, I met this guy at Mavericks with the strongest australia accent I've ever heard, and I asked him were he was from. Then he saw Rosie and told me how he would feed them in the front yard. After my friends wouldn't stop laughing that I asked the guy with a thick Aussie accent were he was from XD It was so obvious LOL
first thing we did was eat lunch, and Rosie got to go to her first restaurant and it was right next to the beach
the water in the harbor was crystal clear, it reminded me of Kauaui
Before actually reaching Mavericks we did one flight since the light was great. Rosie's always had some trouble with flying down, and so she always lines up with my hand and flaps down.
here she is trying to get down, I have her fly into the wind so she hovers very easily to help her practice and makes it easier to get a few photos
Finally made it
Here we are, finally at Mavericks. Some terribly dangerous rocks in the backround, big wave surfers have died on those.
Too dangerous for long line flying with the water, wind, and dogs so we stuck to just the lead.
