Every now and then I see the lovies sitting really hunched up on their favorite perch, and their feathers are all fluffed out. It makes them look like little chickens, lol.

Why do they do this? It's cute, but I need to know they aren't trying to tell me something, like they are too cold, too hot, etc.

Fluffing their feathers is how they keep their feet & themselves warm. Air between the feathers is heated by their bodies and keeps them a bit warm. Including their naked feet. They look fine & comfy.

Mango does this before hunkering down to a good beak grind and a nap. Im always amazed at his thigh flaps. I see your birds also have feathers they can use as a sort a skirt. Very cute!

Basil looks just like that in the morning if I uncover him before he is calling me to be uncovered...all fluffy and sleepy. So cute!
