I have a flight suit (bird diaper) from when I had my ring neck dove over 5 years ago. The size is perfect for Rocka. Well I finally managed to get it on. She screamed and had a fit until I took it off. I'm thinking try once a day so she gets used to it. Anyone else have any tips for making this a little easier?

My luck with anything flight suit or harness has been nonexistent! My bird hates them both!!

Putting anything on my little brats takes 4 hands. It's definitely a 2-person process! Fiji was OK with the harness, but I thought the flight suits would be easier and more comfortable. Havent put them on yet, as hubby is out of town. I'll let you know how it goes! I have a feeling that Sundance will not be a good candidate, he is going through his "terrible twos" right now, at 5-months old.

Oh, and congrats on your flight suit success! Rocka looks adorable! :)

Well she's still getting used to it. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1378937242.500819.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1378937189.138964.jpg

If she could talk I'm sure I would've been called every bad word in the book. But she's been doing great so far.

Shes a cutie. I have a 6 month old sun conure and he loves his flight suit. I wouldnt go to fast to the point where you scare her and she never likes the suit. From my expierence with suits just go slow and take steps by sitting the suit on the cage and let her play with it so she can get use to it.

She still screams a little at first but after its on she's fine

help!! for a Green Cheeck Conure, what size bird diaper did you buy ?
I spent over 30.00 for the junior small that the online store recommended, but it is way too small for my bird. it looks like i put a girdle on him, the tail hole and the shoulder elastic straps are too short, i even cut some of the tail fabric off AND he tolerated it well, it's just way too small.

i'd love to hear from someone who has one that fits a green cheek conure adult, and what size did you get?
also i see there are two companies that make them, Avian Fashions and Jungle Wear, i have the first one.

Junior small from AvianFashions fits my adult GCC. The next size up is small, so I would try that, if junior small is too small.

Rio is completely uncooperative when it come to a harness. She bit the h***out of me the last time I put one on her. And blames my husband (she love me) and is still wary of him since then. We had to cut it off of her in three places to get it off. I am very apprehensive of ever trying again. Oh and btw I am so jealous but yet happy when I see other members and their birds are successful with them... Kudos!

Sand: I had the same issue with Kiwi's first flight suit - I bought her the junior small and it just seemed so tight. She looked quite uncomfortable. So I contacted the company and told them that it was too snug on her and what size I should get.

I got a reply right away from the lady there and she mentioned that the sizes sometimes vary slightly depending on the color. She sent me another junior small I believe in apple green and it was noticeably bigger (But not as big as small) and it fits Kiwi much better.

I'd contact them and see what they can do for you! They sent that second one out to me for free!

Good job for getting your birdie used to it! We tried a flight harness on Indy (5 month old sun conure) and she about choked herself having a fit trying to get it off, scared the living hell out of me! Sooooo I haven't tried that one at all since then! So I looked up the flight suits and the fact that it doesn't go so tight around the neck makes me feel better about it so I found a DIY site and video and my grandma is going to make a flight suit for me :) I hope we have more luck with this one, I would really like to have Indy out with me more often without her taking off:rolleyes:

oh, shoot! I just saw the rest of the posts on here, and I always thought
"oh man no one ever replies, I'm a new GCC owner and I often have questions, I'll use a different forum."
I swear I am "subscribed" to the threads and my user CP has me set to get "instant emails" the moment i post or subscribe to a post. yet i never receive any notices!
thank you for your replies! i ended up ordering the "small" from the website of avian fashions. originally i ordered from pampered peeps and it came in a plastic sandwich bag, so obviously it had been opened. i was not happy about that. if the "small" is too large i'll just take it in myself.
my poor hair on my head has been pooped on so many times, i have to use this thing. my GCC tries to walk to the side of my head to poop over the side, lol, but alas he still poops on me! or the bed or whatever. yes he is pretty tolerable of even the tight diaper i have, but i cant abide by how tight it is, so i'll keep him diaper free till the new one arrives.

My diaper from avian fashions says size S. It fits my sun conure fine.

I've never heard flight suits called bird diapers before? I hope you're not actually using it as a diaper rather than a flight suit?

Anyway, I find that getting the bird used to the suit first is the most important thing. Just like getting your bird used to having a towel over it, start with training her to put up with having the suit near or on top of her. Once it's on, try to distract her with treats, play or training.

Personally I prefer harnesses over flight suits, but that's just personal preference.

Although to be completely honest, taking a bird out of your house isn't a very common thing to do where I'm from. I don't know anyone who does it regularly, and only a couple of people who do it at all. It must be an American thing?

I didnt know they made flight suits for sun conures. I take my Skittles out in a 'travel cage' in the summer, though I hate to restrict him - but I live in the city.

My concern with those would be are they dangerous? Can they physically harm themselves? I wouldn't be too worried about getting Skittles into one, he lets me grab his wing and stretch it out. But I'd be worried if he got startled outside he might take off and strangle himself. I dont worry so much about diapers, I've got him pretty well potty trained. NOT an easy thing to do BTW!
