Fleece hangy-thing

I made Zulu the first of what I hope to be many toys... and I'm watching him interact with it in his cage and can't help but wonder what could possibly go wrong with it. He's a chewer. He is currently nibbling on the strands (one foot is locked on a strip and he's going to town on the rest of the strip with his beak). it's 'no pill' fleece.... is there any harm in him having this in his cage?

Please excuse the less than creative title! Are there any thoughts/opinions on the safety of this particular 'toy'? Zulu is definitely a nibbler/chewer, and I'm always concerned he'll ingest something he ought not ingest!

I think it should be fine if once it gets old and shredded that it can't catch your bird's feet or toenails and get tangled in it. It's fun seeing your bird enjoy something that you've made yourself.

Also make sure when making (or buying) toys that any ring shaped objects aren't the wrong size where they can get their head caught in it and can't get out easily. Watch for fraying rope, or any type of shreddable materials that feet and nails can't get tangled. If this happens, cut the frayed parts away with a scissors. Use parts made for birds. You can buy toy making parts of plastic, leather, wood, natural fibers, bells, etc, and will end up being cheaper than buying an already made one. Also lets you use your creativity and can be fun.
