Flame Macaw
Hello all,

As some may have read, we added a flame macaw to our home three weeks ago. His name is Bongo (not sure it is a male, but until we have him SS, we will go with he). So far things are going very well and he has been an amazing addition to the family.

I was curious if there were any other flame macaw owners on PF and was hoping to see pictures of your fid if so. I have seen the pictures online dozens if not hundreds of times as we researched to determine which breed to add to our family. I really hope there are a few out there and that you will post your pictures.

This picture has been posted on here a few times, sorry. Bongo:

Just gorgeous! I love his face. When are you having him/her sexed?

Beautiful coloring. I never heard of a Flame before and went surfing on the internet. I noticed the ones that I did see had more yellow and red than this one so I am really interested in seeing him when he fully feathered.

Not too many are available so how did you luck out in finding this one?

I love his color patterns! He's definitely a cutie and he's quite beautiful!!

Im sorry if you had mentioned this already but what species do you breed to get the Flame Macaws ? Just curious.

Bongo is just beautiful , awesome coloring !!!

@luvmytooo, I believe a Flame Macaw is the progeny of a Greenwing and a Catalina. So it's a second generation hybrid.

I'm not looking...I'm not looking.

Of course I looked and boy is he a pretty boy/girl!!!

Great, now temptation is calling...but wait, I've got my hands full (of feathers) already ;)

I'm now curious to see how other Flames look when fully matured as well.

Google Flame Macaws and view the images. If you click on some of the images, it will take you to some websites that will show additional photos or information. This little one here is different in coloring by having more greens and blues thus far.

What a cutie pie, wow!

Thanks for all of the kind words. Yes, a Flame Macaw is a 2nd generation hybrid cross of a GW and a catalina.

Bongo got to play in his cage for a while this weekend. Here are a few pictures.

Colors are so unique compared to the images I found on the internet.

Bongo is lucky to have a poolside abode. lol.

He is just gorgeous!!

Gorgeous baby Bongo! On my monitor it looks like his chest is fire-engine red. Simply stunning!

Great cage he's going to be occupying, too. :D I had to actually look for him, until I scrolled down some more and spotted him on the bottom, lol.
