Hey folks I hope this post in the right area...

Around mid-late October I will be bringing home my baby blue and gold. I have read tons, watched videos, and asked as many people possible on this subject. However, I wanted to get an idea of what people think here.

I know the first day bringing home baby will be full of confusion and fear for the bird. Thankfully, the breeder has been gracious enough to allow me visit the bird as much as I like, and I am sure I will have the opportunity to build trust with the bird before he or she comes to my home. That being said, though the bird will know me, he or she will most likely be a little frightened by being in a brand new environment.

What should I expect the first day and following weeks?
How can I help the bird's comfort level and trusting me in a new environment?

Non related - The breeder will be giving a fully weaned baby, what is my responsibility as far as the bird's nutrition once he/she is in my home?

Limited experience here, but I can tell you what I saw when I brought my guy home. Even tho he knew me from multiple visits, it was a move to a new home and he wasn't sure. I had a lot of toys, cargo netting, play stands, etc to give him something to explore. He did pretty well, but I let him go at his pace.

If he doesn't seem scared with you sitting by his cage, do so and let him hear your voice. Let him come to you, don't be pushy and try stepping up until he gets settled.

I can't help you on a recently weened baby as my guy as 2 years old when I got him.
