Reginald is finally playing!
He turned one in early February of this year, but until very, very recently, he hated toys. He'd chew on a couple for a few days, then ignore them. He loves to beat up on bells, but that was it. And he loved to throw things on the ground. I had tried ropes, bells, wood of all thickness, cardboard, plastic, and I had played with them in front of him, rotated them out, everything! I thought I was stuck with him never touching his toys.
But I decided to shoot for the moon and I bought him a number of foot toys. A chunk of yucca, some beads on a bird-safe leather strip, a little pinata, and a little jingle ball like you may get for a cat.
And suddenly, he's playing! I don't know what it is that got his interest first, but he's now crawling around the floor of his cage, chucking the jingle ball all over, taking big chunks out of the yucca wood, and rummaging through the ball of corn husk for the seeds I have hidden in it.
I'm such a proud mama.
