So after a lot of thinking, research, talking to other people and just going to the pet shop several times we decided on the Yellow Nape. We put down a deposit on him today!! We handled several birds including the Yellow Nape, Double Yellow Headed and Lilac Crowned. They were all good birds and the pet shop we use is great with them. We got our other two boys from them and they have been great birds. They are all hand fed. Our guy will be ready in 2-3 weeks! He is down to one handfeeding a day. After handling the other ones there was something about him that my husband and I knew he was the one. I have learned a lot from this forum and hope to continue to. Thanks to everyone on here for thier posts. :)

Great choice. Yellow napes rock.

Congrats, Melissa and I are both YN fans ,so kind of bias. Socialize, socialize ,socialize and you'll have a great fid.

I took some pictures of him today with my phone. Will have to see if I can get them off of there and put them on here. I'm pretty dumb when it comes to technology.

I don't know about YNA's being the largest, I've seen some DYH & Tres Maries that were pretty dang big.

I love YNAs, the ones we got don't feel the same LOL

I think some of the Mealies might get a little larger, ive heard of 1,000 gram birds but haven't seen one. Most of my napes are 5oo-700 grams except for Echo who weighs 700-725. I know of another male Danny who also weighs 725. hey rat, aren't the Tres Marias something else, there;s one down the street from me,very sweet. The couple has a store that he and a bunch of other zons hang out on the sidewalk during the day. They keep saying they;re selling the store and moving and when they do ,they said i could have the Tres Maria.

Henpecked, we got a red lored in the rescue recently that I swear must weigh 2 lbs. Poor little guy is just a super chunk. I don't know what his previous home fed him, but I'd never picked up such a heavy amazon before in my life!

I'm pretty sure these are Tres Marie's, if not then Magna's

Not tres Marias ,could be Magna , but look more DYH. Good looking birds, wish they were mine !!

Thanks everyone.! Will try to get my husband to put some pictures of all my boys on here (I assume their boys). Can't wait to get him home. Now just got to come up with name. We have narrowed it down to Augustus (call him Gus) from Lonesome Dove, Waylon (like Waylon Jennings) or Briar (from a movie called Next of Kin). Not sure yet. Will have to get him home and see what name fits him.
