So my sun is now 6 months old. He is molting and looks all disheveled. :)

His new thing now is he just wants to stand on my head. I left him with my sister to watch him and he did the same thing to her. How do I get him to stop going up there? I know birds love being up high but I can not walk around with a bird on my head. :orange:

Any suggestions?

Maybe shake your head when he's up there so that he doesn't feel like your head is a stable resting place? Might work! haha

I think they all try it, and see if they can get away with it! Gilbert has suddenly decided to try this as well. I just don't allow it. I say "no" and take him off immediately. Besides, he normally does it when i'm not giving him exactly what he wants at the time (usually when he is a little bored he flies to my head). So a good distraction--a toy, a snack, etc--can often do the trick after saying no and removing him.

I don't have a problem with a bird on my head! LOL

If Casey lands on my head, she'll readily step up for me, or she'll climb down the side of my head to my shoulder... but honestly? If she stays up there, it's not an issue!

If Charlie lands on my head, he'll climb down the side of my head to my shoulders. I guess he's kind of quirky as he climbs down rather than up.... for example, if I'm sitting at a desk, he'll climb down to my arms, maybe wander the top of the desk, maybe even climb down into my lap! If I'm standing though, he's typically on my shoulder, unless I have my arm out at an angle, then he might be there, too.

Just go back and reinforce stepping up! Use treats to lure him off if you have to! But teach him in a positive manner to come down from your head and shoulders.

I've worked out a deal with Nika. She's allowed on my head only if I wear a beat up old bandanna on my head. It's not poop I'm worried about (she won't poop on me) but what she does to my hair...pulling, getting tangled up, etc. so it works out well, about an hour or 2 before bedtime I tie it on my head and she immediately flies over, ecstatic to perch on my head. :)
