Hey everyone!

My 10 month old B&G Macaw, Rhage, is a pro at going out with me. We go to lunch at a local pet friendly diner and chill on the deck, and take walks together a lot, often in crowds... He wears his harness and he's clipped. He enjoys sitting on my arm or shoulder, much to my annoyance, and isn't bothered by noise, crowds or pets.

My local community is doing a Fall Festival outside this month. Crafts, food trucks, carnival food, music, baked goods, vendors..... And it's supposed to be a warmer day. Just in case I planned on taking his hoodie for him, as well as fresh fruit snacks in his 'go bag'.

Do you think it's safe? I'm just worried about the foods cooking and what not. He's not keen on being touched by strangers, as he once was when he was younger, but I usually sit him on my forearm and politely tell people he's shy and not too touch. He's all about goofing and dancing to music and loves the attention, just not touches.

I also though about taking him on a trail hike for a fundraiser for our local Humane Society(it's a 1 mile walk with others and their leashed dogs) He's fine with dogs barking and running around... I have 2 huskies so noise and fast movement are common ROFL.

I'm just not sure about being in the woods. It's an open trail so it's not like I have to worry about him getting into trees, I'm more worried about Hawks and such, but he'll be on my arm and I am always on the look out.

What do you think?

I think the food cooking stuff and sheer number of people make it not a good idea

Yes you may say he doesn't like strangers, but they don't care. To them he's a toy to play with and will poke, prod and grab him to which he'll probably voice his concern with his beak. At which point you're at the mercy of the same laws of dogs biting which are pretty cut and dry on euthanizing. Let's be fair even if he didn't bite anyone but just touched them with his beak they'd say he bit them not knowing any better. Also there will be children there and we all know what they're like at the best of times

As for the walk, why not? As long as organizers are made aware of him and agree to it. I'd probably ask for signs to be made up saying not to touch him
