Hello again, today my aunt brought me 2 plants to put near Kia's cage and play stand. A spider plant and a fern. Such a nice gesture but how do I know if they've ever been sprayed with pesticide? She works at Home Depot and got them from there. Home Depot doesnt spray them and I tried calling the company that they come from and they're closed. Is there anything I can do just in case tey were sprayed?

I'd wipe down the leaves of the plants with a damp cloth, and keep them out of her reach for a couple weeks or so. Also, it is quite possible there is fertilizer in the soil, and who knows what else (I believe peat moss is bad for them)? So make sure she can't play around in the dirt in the pots.

Even if you call Homedepot, they probably wouldn't know as they buy them from nurseries. I would take them outside everyweek to give the whole plant a good rinse to be on the safe side. I don't allow my birds to get close to my plants period. I like my plants not chewed up....

I usually have a plant hanging in the corner where her cage is now, I actually have plants eveywhere lol. But I wanted to put something there that she could chew on the ends of. I know boston ferns and spider plants are safe for her, and I told my aunt that, which gave her the idea to buy them today. When I hang one or the other I'll be hanging it so she cant get to the soil, but just in case she does Im putting gravel otop of the soil.
