Ok, Iā€™ve been on here long enough: no Parkerā€™s NOT going anywhere.

However, I have an acquaintance on Instagram I correspond with who is at their whits end with their female eclectus. Itā€™s unfortunately a story we hear all too often:

1. Bird is going through puberty, and
2. Has become aggressive in puberty, with owners not knowing how to cope,
2. In puberty, bird has become a one person bird, and in this pubertal-one-person ness, has chosen the non-caretaker as their primary interest, aggressive all others. This husband is NOT interested at all in the bird, and itā€™s becoming a problem.

Birds been in puberty for about 9 months, with possibly a few mor months to go. Iā€™d like to help this sweet lady however I can, though Iā€™m not able to take the bird in. Does anyone have any resources I can point her to to help her out in properly rehoming this little bird?

Iā€™m trying to help with some coping mechanisms to bridge the gap for them for now (with a small modicum of luck, maybe itā€™ll get them to the point where the hormones ultimately settle and this wonā€™t have to happen). But if this is going to happen Iā€™d like to help make it as painless for them as possible.

Clicker training. It helped with my Finley a great deal and I'm able to handle him without being scared he'll attack me with zero warning and has become much more interested in spending time with me. I only train him like 20 minutes a day and it's shocking how much better he's gotten! He still has some kind of mental issue but I the unwanted behavior that he's able to work on he has been doing a great deal better with.

Thanks sunny. But Iā€™ve come to inderstand that theyā€™re done taking ā€œothers suggestionsā€ on how to fix it. I see holes: I suggested target training to a stick, and am told ā€œthat wonā€™t work, sheā€™s terrified of sticksā€. I wonā€™t even suggest desensitizing her to the sticks at this point.

Poor thing, I can tell sheā€™s done and over it. She wants to do everything possible to ensure she goes to a good home, but doesnā€™t have the strength to put forth any more effort.

Hi. I live in NY about 1 1/2 hours above the city. If it becomes necessary and they are willing to adopt this far away I would be happy to adopt. I have a Macaw right now and would love to extend my tint flock. Please let me know if I am needed.
