Just been in to say hi to Loki, I'm working hard (hardly working more like) an I like to pop in and out to him so he's not to alone.

Just noticed his feet, the underside, look red, bright red. Almost painful and sore? Is this normal.

He has no dowel anymore, only rope perches and wooden branches from my pet store?

Oh gosh panicked, please shed some light

Hi Joshuaaa it sounds like his feet are probably sore. Why? Not sure here but it might be his perches even though they sound ok. Does he let you touch them to look at them? Maybe you should take him to a avian vet to be sure. Do you see any skin breakdown or sores? Keep us posted.

There are no abnormalities or breakages, no bleeding. I'm just worried now :(

They look a brighter deeper red then usual :(

Does he have toys that are died red that could have rubbed off? Or has he eaten something that he held in his feet that could have stained them?

Ruby's feet get red when she eats beets. Has he maybe eaten something that stained his feet ? If not rub your hands along the perches, and check for rough or abrasive spots. Check the cage bars also for rough spots. Does his feet seem sore when you touch them ?

Great point Sodakat! I recall Oliver's one foot was bright red. I was so in a panic thinking he hit it or worse got it caught on something but when he took a shower it washed off so I'm thining it was either dye from a toy or a stain from a strawberry or something in his food bowl. I hope this is the case with Loki...

Keep us updated Joshuwaaa. Did it wash off or did you have to take the bird to the vet? Clover had redness on her toe. It did not wash off and taking her to the vet I found out if was fungus. I got medicine that healed it up to and stop it from speading. Clover is eating and keeping the weight on but we need to go back to the vet because while the feet and toes look great I think the fungus killed a couple of nails or talons (if you will). I guess I am thinking such as it you get a bad infection on your finger that kills the nail and you have to grow a new nail.

Hey,

His feet are red but he doesn't react as if they are sore in anyway. Still climbs like normal an everything.

He has eaten red grapes so I think that an the dye off his rope perch I recently washed may be the case.

We are going to the vet just to be sure, an also to have another check up on his plumage and growth :)

Thank you all, il let you know what the result is, but at the moment he seems fine. They aren't bothering him at all :)
