Hello all :)

Yesterday I took Lulu to the vet because I suspected she has feather mites because of her itchiness and I was right. I got some medicine to take home with me to put under her one wing on her skin. After a few hours she stopped scrathing so it must have worked fine. Today she is scratching just like she used to do before getting the medicine and my question to you guys are if you know when her itchiness will stop? I can remeber the vet told me she should be checked after a month but I can't remember if he said she will stop scrathing after a day og 14 days...

Do you know how she contracted mites in the first place?

He said that the most possible way she could've got them is from the birds outside flying next to the window where she look out while the window was a bit open.. So she just caught them from the air outside

That stinks....I've been lucky that I haven't had to deal with mites. Im sure there's a few folks on here that had to deal with it or know the treatment methods. From what I remember a long time ago that the birds have to be basically cover in the treatment solution to really work. I do remember reading something about natural remedy to use to treat mites. I have to re-read it again myself....

Hopefully you'll never deal with them because like you said it stinks. I'll call the vet tomorrow and ask him my question(s). Better safe than sorry :)
