Totally off topic lol

I watched chasing mavericks recently, I can't believe how much I love this movie. It really hit home, both my parents lived in Santa Cruz and my dad was really into surfing, recently he moved back near the coast and started surfing again. Seeing this movie showing a place I went to weekly growing up, and as a adult still go often, made me really emotional. They displayed the area so beautifully and accurately. At the credits I cried when they had the surfer circle in honer of Jay, even though it was for the movie it was a true memorial and many people who new jay were present.

So that's one of my favorite movies and why, what are yours?

One of my favorite movies is...........

FOREST GUMP

I can watch it a hundred times, and still laugh and cry - it just never gets old. :)

The Princess Bride!! :D oooh how i love that movie. I could watch it over and over again, and Breakfast at tiffany's!

I LOVE Pixar animation (I have even Monster's Inc collectibles from the first movie, a numbered edition canvas, etc). Every time I see that "love story" sequence in Up, I cry!

Oddly enough I also tend to like 'darker' movies--Shutter Island, Sweeney Todd (I have all dvds of this: in concert, the broadway version, movie version), The Pianist, Manchurian Candidate.....

I generally will like anything that is pure imagination and visually trippy, even if it is corny. (Alice in Wonderland--saw this repeatedly in 3D in the theater.) I LOVE Tim Burton!!! If he has something to do with it I typically adore it.

I have three big favourites:

What Dreams May Come

A Beautiful Mind

...And probably my all time favourite...

Big Fish (Seriously, watch it!)

Quigley Down Under has been atributed to the rescue of the Cowboy Movie genre. Since it first came out, Quigley became, and remains, my all time favorite movie!

Oddly enough, my next favorite "western" would be a two part series that starts with "The Man From Snowy River".

All three movies were shot, not in the "Great American West"; but, in Australia! :D

I am one of those people that can't really put a finger on my favorite movie. I love all pixar movies and most of the newer Disney animation movies. But I am also a huge fan of superhero movies! Comics turned into movies and original superhero movies. My favorite super hero is superman, so I own all superman movies. ( I was a little disappointed with Man of Steel, but i digress) I just like good entertainment. If it is entertaining, and done well, then I will like it. I really don't like horror movies or any movie shot in the same manner as "blair witch project". Horror movies are just to predictable and the stories are usually just plain bad. Okay, I have said enough, I like movies!

OH I love all those Marvel movies!! and for Pixar, I think of The Incredibles as the great nod to super heroes!!

Those are all great movies. I love all them listed so far. I have seen A Beautiful Mind at least 6 times, each time I notice something I missed before. I also love the movie Rio, probabuly my favorite animated movie next to UP. Love that one too.

My favorite 'cry' movies are, Lorenzo's Oil and Beaches.

I LOVE Rio !!! It just really shows what we are doing to these beautiful creatures , but in a funny , comical way ! I could watch it over and over again and not get sick of it . I also love the setting , it's my dream one day to go to Rio de Janeiro .

OK, I'm once again confused.

In a forum about parrots, in a folder called "Off Topic", wouldn't a thread about favorite movies be on topic?

I would think in an Off Topic folder, in a parrot forum, if you started a thread about parrots, THAT would be off-topic.

Just wondering!

Makes perfect since to me, I usually look at the forum from the main page where all the new/active threads are showed together. And it's in the off topic section, so it's off topic ;)

Plus a lot of people(myself included) look at the main page, where they will see-
