Fargo- Blue and Gold Macaw
Soo after a 3 month wait, today was the day i got to pick my little man up!
He was all excited and outgoing as we finalised the papers... He hopped in his travel cage ready for the 3 hour drive home!
We reached home, got into my room.. asked him to step up, which he did very nicely and sat on my arm as i put him in the cage.
He is veryyy scared of his new environment and doesnt know where all his friends have gone! makes my heart melt when he was so cheeky before! but i have let him be, not fussing over him making him feel scared. I know it will take time :)
and as i was typing this he just starting playing with his toys and climbing his cage! i was so excited haha :)
So the journey begins.. I am already in love with the way he looks at me with his head tilted <3
photos are bad quality as they were taken on ipod !
:blue1:
(he is moulting at the moment)

He's quite an adorable little guy! Since he's playing with his toys it shows he adapts to new situations quickly. Congrats to you!!

Welcome home Fargo! He is super cute! :)

YAY!!! How you have anticipated this day!!! So happy for you that beautiful Fargo is home. :)

My Niko seemed a bit shell-shocked when I first brought him home, but since we knew each other and he trusted me, it made the transition much easier. He also looked frazzled and bug-eyed when I first put him into his cage at home.

I'm sure Fargo will make himself at home in no time at all.

thank you everyone! :)
he seems to be getting used to his cage now, this afternoon he went and picked up a few foot toys for a bit, climbed to some other toys, and attempted a foraging toy :p
He hasnt screamed once, but instead does little squawky mumbles when i talk to him, its like he is replying :)
he is now fast asleep hanging on the side of the cage, after watching an episode of Rugrats on the computer, which he loved. LOL
He didnt eat his dinner but the breeder said that would be expected for his first big night.. but he had a few nuts..
and wendy i know what that frazzled look is!

So do you feel like you're in "la-la land"? Keep peeking over and realizing he's REALLY home? Boy I remember how I felt after I got Niko home. I think the first week or so I spent my time in my bird room and bedroom only to sleep, lol, watching every move he made, like an overprotective mother watching her kids take the first steps on their own. :)

You'll have SO much fun with him. It'll be a great adventure.

hahahah omg that is exactly how i feel! i think i will get neck cramps soon because i turn my head back to look in his cage every minute, i dont know why because i cant see anything! :p
its weird, but i love the smell of parrots! haha

do they normally sleep on the side of the cage ? i would of thought if he was to sleep on the side it would be the side further from me? but hes on the closest side..

its weird, but i love the smell of parrots! haha

Congrats on getting him home!

I also stuff my nose into Merlin's back before I put him to bed, or if he's napping on my shoulder, because I just loooove the smell of him. The beautiful parrot smell!

Oh yes, I LOVE how they smell, too. :)

Niko slept on a perch from day 1. But he does hang on the sides of his cage a LOT. Actually he doesn't sit still much during the day. He's all over the place, banging stuff around (the louder the better), playing sawmill, even running on the grate when I'm in the room.

And when he's on his playtree he has the most fun. He's out about 6-10 hours during the day, messing up my kitchen, lol.

Fargo is probably just a bit freaked since he's in a brand new environment, and he's close to you because you are the one thing (person) he trusts and knows. :)

hahaha aww I'm glad I'm not the only one who smells their bird ;)
ok thank you Wendy! niko seems like a real character haha!

He is beautiful :) Love the name Fargo !
Congrats , enjoy the adventure .
There really is something about a Macaw that is unlike any other bird.
Each and every bird has their own special attributes , but a Macaw is just different.
I can't seem to find the right words to explain this better. Something just sets them apart.
Enjoy every moment of baby hood , lolol. Those baby calls , and baby talk are priceless ! :):):)

.... can't wait for his terrible twos ;) LOL

Oh yes you can. :32: They are not THAT bad, lol. Niko's been REALLY really good all day today. :)

I truly can't wait to hear stories as you 2 explore the world together (or your home). You'll find something new and exciting each and every day as your bond strengthens.

hahaha ok, I will take your word for it ;)

I know I can't wait either!

I woke up and he was sitting on his perch just looking at me :p and I put fresh food in and he leant towards it but hasn't walked over to it yet, but atleast he seems interested

When you woke up, was your first thought: "OMG, Fargo is home, lemme go check up on him ASAP?" <-- I was like this for weeks after bringing Niko home, lol. What a nut I was/am.

I'll give him a couple of days before Fargo will be all over his cage. Carefully, since he's probably still a bit clumsy, but curiosly. :)

i fed him some food from my hands,, he ate a little bit,, then asked him to step up, and placed him ontop of his cage.. he was so excited.. climbed the ladder, then flew to the play gym... then i asked him to step up... but he wouldnt.. so i ignored him.. now he is hanging on the side of the cage next to me wanting my attention haha :p
