I put a deposit down on a TAG baby today, the last one the breeder has. He won't be fully weaned until April or so, but I'm very excited. So adorable! I do have a few questions though. What sorts of toys should I have ready for him in his cage? How should I go about letting him settle in/how long before I should mess with him? I have an 8 month pineapple GCC. Should I place their cages near each other or not?

Separate them at first for at least two-weeks to a month. Let the new grey get comfortable in his new home and leave him be for about a week before you start trying to touch/play with him. You can talk to him and see if he will take treats through the cage bars. And it will be some trial and error when it comes to finding toys that he likes, so get a few different things. I know that greys like to chew and shred toys, both of my TAGs went through at least one chew toy every week to every other week.

Is the breeder teaching him step-up or any other commands?

Yes, the breeder is teaching step-up. They will be weaned sometime by mid April and I can not wait. I hear mixed opinions on when to start handling a bird. I have done research and some say if the bird comes from a good breeder and handled often then the bird should be handled after the first few days of bringing he/she home. Is this incorrect/bad idea?
