Encourage Broader Play or Let Her Stick to Her Cage?

Since I work from home, Lucille's cage is open almost all day. Her cage is huge, and she spends about half her time inside and half her time either sitting on the door or playing on the top. (She has tons of toys on top and inside. In the pic I haven't put the toys in yet.) She also has a VERY nice play tree on the other side of the living room, but when I place her on it, she sits for maybe a minute then flies back to her cage top. She will sit with me if I am petting her or cuddling her, but otherwise she flies back to her cage. I figured I could move the tree next to the cage so when she climbs out to play she will consider playing on the tree then might be more open to playing on it when it is on the other side of the living room; however, I am wondering if I really should try and encourage her to play other places to be better socialized or if I should just let her play where she wants to play and stop worrying like the obsessed parront I am. ;)

I would say go ahead and put the tree next to the cage. Then after she gets used to playing on it quite a bit you could try moving it back!

YES! SUCCESS! After 9 days of having her tree sitting in front of her cage, she finally chose to break away from the constant cage living and get on her tree to play with all the fun toys there ALL BY HERSELF! Patience has paid off... hopefully it will pay off when it comes to us having a closer relationship, too!

Hi, just a small point from my experience RB2's like to play on the floor. So if it is safe and hygienic to do so why not try putting some toys on the floor and see if she will come play with you?

Is Lucille flying much, if not, my friends Rb2 flies round the room whilst she juggles some balls, odd yes, but it get him doing laps.

Fab tree btw.

Nice to see you and Lucille have bonded well. She looks very happy and has a huge territory to explore!

Nice update, Mitch! I love the expression on Lucille's face in the first photo! Great cage set up and tree.
